Iteration, or Iterative Design is an approach of incrementally developing and refining a design based on feedback and evaluation.
The above image is a series of iterative prototypes developed by Arcimoto SRK. Each successive iteration of their product is illustrated in the image. Starting in the top row and from left to right, with Generation 1 and 2 on the top. Generation 3 and 4 in the middle. Generation 5 and 6 on the bottom row, with the initial production mule and fleet design represented by Generation 6.
You can see the evolution of the vehicle in these four images. From an almost motorcycle utility through industrial-style construction and revisions and a gradual adoption of a more public-accessible visual aesthetic.

This is the revised iteration of my colorized image. Since the description of the previous image is a bit long and the revisions I made here are slight, I will include a breakdown of the colorization process under this image. All changes made to the original black-and-white image were done so in Adobe Photoshop.
To start, I divided the black-and-white image into sections based on where color would be added, then searched for reference images with similar lighting conditions that I could then extract color from to create color palettes. For example, I searched for an image of the sky, of a wheat field, of green foliage, of blue denim, etc.
Once I had my reference images loaded into Photoshop, I used the eye dropper tool to extract areas of color that I could use for a color palette. I extracted about 5-8 different colors from each image. Once I had my color palettes, I deleted the reference images.
Following this, I used the color palettes to create gradient maps for each section of the image. I found this to be the most effective way to create realistic color, because it allowed me to adjust the color gradient in case the dark tones or light tones were too extreme. Additionally, I applied many different adjustment layers (exposure, color balance, levels, brightness, contrast, vibrancy, saturation, etc.) to further tweak the exact shades of color. Finally, I cropped the gradient maps so that they would only exist over the portions of the image where I wanted those exact colors to be.
The exact adjustments I made were different for each area, but the process of creating gradient maps with color palettes was generally the same for each area.
This image is mostly the same as the previous iteration. I changed the hue of the skin to give it a bit more red, I increased the range of color in the hair so it wouldn't look as flat, and I applied a few small adjustments to the background using the clone stamp tool.

Second iteration of this rack, on my new old touring bike. For this one I tried a simpler tang bolted to the fork crown (the pulley and spacers are part of the brakes on this bike.) It's still awkward to get a wrench in. I guess I understand why Nitto et al. do the bolt as an integral part of the rack, though that still strikes me as gimpy.. In any case, that woudn't have worked here as the fork crown itself is threaded M6 on both sides.

Partitions itératives is a series of performances consisting of composing music with data streams, generally from outer space objects. These performances offer a sensitive re-reading of scientific data, replaying at the speed of sound a set of data traveling astronomical distances.
