The guys peering over the Möhne Dam near the Reservoir on our trip to the ISDE event in 2012. Seems like only yesterday and it still gives us a good laugh now almost ten years later
Using an online translation page it came up with something like:-
Here Germany and Europe were divided up until 11:30 to 12 December 1990
We were somewhere in the Harz Mountains and this was one of the old borders between the German Democratic Republic (GDR/East Germany) and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG/West Germany). I would geotag it but I'm not 100% sure where we were, after a bit of dreadful map reading. Not by me, I hasten to add.
We had just stopped for a fairly hearty lunch but (unsurprisingly) we had no idea what we'd ordered or just eaten.
We were en route to Zschopau and Chemnitz via Colditz Castle for the 2012 International Six Days Enduro aka the ISDE
Here I am giving a fairly cheesy thumbs up. Captured during a rare moment where we didn't have the waterproofs on. The inside of my helmet was like a wet sponge as it had rained so heavily the day before. As most bikers will know, riding in certain conditions makes the visor steam up, so you flip it open for a while and the rain comes in for a time. The rain stings the face so after a while you flip the visor back down. Then it steams up. So you open it again. Then more rain comes in and the stinging gets a bit too much. A vicious circle. Putting a wet helmet on in a morning knowing that there are five hours or so riding ahead, isn't one of my favourite experiences I must admit.
Sadly John passed away the day after this photograph.
The International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), formerly known as the International Six Days Trial (ISDT), is the oldest 'off road' motorcycle event on the FIM Calendar.
The ISDT was first held in 1913 at Carlisle England and occurred annually (apart from interruptions due to World War I and World War II) at various locations throughout the world. It's great to once again welcome it back to Carlisle to celebrate it's 100th birthday. At the end of the International Six Days Enduro ride a centennial rally featuring classic bikes from 1913 to 2013 will follow the original 1913 course down into the Lake District and finishing in Carlisle. This set of photos were taken on Sunday 18th August during the classic rally and enduro.

Apparently the "fad" of planking involves lying face down (check - well almost), in a dangerous location (check) but with both the arms touching the side of the body (erm....uncheck).
On the other side of the wall there is the 217m deep Mohnesee reservoir. Gulp.
Just getting ready to put the timer on the camera on a mini tripod to take a team photo.
It was pretty windy there but luckily the camera didn't go over the edge.
