Just 5 months later, March 3, 1979, they totally rocked the Convention Center Arena with fellow Canuck rockers April Wine opening.

“Put your suitcase down, and leave your shoes

We did an interview with a DJ in Texas, (Joe Anthony) I asked him what songs of ours they were playing. He said, "First we play the first side, then we play the second side." I just about fell off my chair.
— Earl Johnson, Rhythm Guitar Moxy
I love this interpretation I found somewhere online - my thoughts exactly from the first listen:
My Interpretation
I think it means "How Long until you return to know, return to the point of knowledge, that Jesus is Lord, died for your sins, and has saved you?" The message is from God and is in the sea for everyone to see.

Nothing looks the same and I don't feel the same as I once did. I'm feeling much better. An empty bottle in your hand, I never hope to understand. They'll be trains of music singing as loud as the little bird in my head.
Here’s just a short list of some of the fine folks that’ve covered some of Mr.John Hiatt’s songs:
Aaron Neville, B.B. King, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Chaka Khan, Albert Lee, Dave Edmunds, Delbert McClinton, Desert Rose Band, Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop, I'm with Her, Jeff Healey, Jewel, Jimmy Buffett, Joan Baez, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Cocker, Keith Urban, Linda Ronstadt, Mandy Moore, Maria Muldaur, Nick Lowe, Paula Abdul, Paulini, Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Ry Cooder, Suzy Bogguss, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Searchers, Three Dog Night, Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel, and Willy DeVille. The Dutch singer-songwriter Ilse DeLange recorded the album Dear John with nine of his songs.
This one, Bring The Family (1987) and Slow Turning (1988) are my faves.

This truly fabulous 1960s conjunto/later early Tejano group formed around 1964 in the Rio Grande Valley in the McAllen/Pharr, Texas area.
Originally known as Carlos Guzman Y Su Cojunto they split to form Los Fabulosos 4 and Carlos Guzman continued as a solo artist. Several of the band members went on to also play in LOS UNICOS, starting in 1970.

Totally digging the latest Nuclear Juarez vinyl release! Sounds perfectly trippy and menacing on this soggy, drizzly and foggy day after Christmas morning. Stoked to be a part of this project and grateful to be working with Brian, Mike and Gus, gracias!
I’ve been spinning EXIL all morning, it’s an excellent trippy and mysterious ride, perfect with coffee - great job guys!

Perfect coffee/music pairing for a lazy Saturday morning. (At least until KSYM resumes their sorely missed all jazz programming with Chris, Bobby J and Dan.)
The roots of rock and roll literally start here. New Orleans’ own Boswell Sisters. Martha, Connie and Vet invented a swinging jazz harmony that’s as sweet and fresh today as it was back when they were the queens of 1930s radio.
Connie Boswell’s velvet tones, inspired singers from Ella Fitzgerald and The Andrew Sisters to Wynonna Judd, sold over 75 million records, and did it all from a wheelchair.
The trio's "unique singing style and ground-breaking arrangements fused 'blackness' and 'whiteness' in music," and their collaborations with "the preeminent white swing musicians of their day—the Dorsey Brothers, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw—had a profound effect on the development of the big band sound in the 1930s.
They attained national prominence in the United States in the 1930s during the twilight years of the Jazz Age and the onset of the Great Depression.
Sadly, they broke up in 1936 and I never got to see them perform live but there’s an awesome YouTube video of the Sisters doing one of my favorites, “Crazy People”, and it’s nothing short of fabulous.
Make It Louder.
