Watercolor 12x16

When I first switched to a DSLR with a viewfinder, I felt like said viewfinder was very limiting compared to just watching the train. While I have gotten accustomed to using my viewfinder, I decided to replicate the feeling at a popular Toronto photo location. CP 8021 leads CP 7015 on a mid afternoon 421 through the city as it begins its journey to Winnipeg.

Several months ago my mother painted the portrait of Jane on the right. Today I posed her with the same snuggly, soft jacket and chair as in the painting.

At the Bouverie Preserve we were formed into groups to go on a walk with a docent. And by chance in my group there was one of my Flickr friends. He does not allow tagging, but I was pleased to meet him and walk with him. So cool to connect Flickr friends in real life (IRL).

As you guys can see, I am close to finishing the model. Stay tuned Its still in progress and I have to figure a function to keep it a bit more sturdy.

This started (and I guess ended as well) as another interior for the large Hibernia scene I've had in the works. I was happy enough with it that I decided to try to set up a render in between.

The rendering ran as a test of a few different lights, reflections on stickered pieces, glare through transparent pieces, and blur and depth of field.

My goal was to make the scene as realistic as possible, with limited tools. At the top of my list was the light for the transparent 2x2 in the back and the light in the lower portion of the central cone. I also wanted to see if I could get satisfying lighting with lights placed only in areas they could be put IRL.

In Real Life

Met my friend Oliver last night for a beer (or two !?) in Bonn.

Thank you again for the great time we shared dear Oliver. It was awesome to see you again.

Hi

This is what I've been working on for the past 2 months or so: a Baldwin "sharknose" locomotive. I really should have been making European things I feel like, but when I started working on this project, I really didn't have motivation to work on any other projects, so I decided to just work on this so I can at least get something done. It can be powered by a single pu xl motor (it really can't fit anything else)

I am not planning to actually build this locomotive irl any time soon

The model has a few stickers but the c-shaped striping, as well as some other simple things are brick built.

I also think this is my most (and best) detailed model yet.

I believe I have my motivation to work on my other (European) projects back, so I hope I can reveal something that better fits my nationality next time!

We share so much of our sl that it's been nice seeing the glimpses into your rl's as of late and I thought I'd share a small bit of mine with you.

Unfortunately until I get a new memory card my camera is out of commission, so pixelated hipstamatic photos from the ipod will have to make do for now.

Here's a photo that I was able (luckily) to take at a local hiking trail. It was the perfect time in the evening to do it.

East Yorkshire 96 is approaching the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster. It is a Volvo B5TL with Wright Gemini 3 bodywork. It was new to Millar Travel, Dublin in 2017, registered 171-D-25062 (IRL), and was acquired by EYMS in 2021 as an addition to the coach fleet.

This is a bit much, but I liked the reflections on the water so i amped it up a weeee bit.

It’s really hard to find IRL pics of the University Cheerleader dolls. I haven’t even seen most of the dolls from the first wave last year. Thanks to Ajsmith352 for taking great pictures. Visit her page on ebay: myworld.ebay.com/ajsmith352/&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2754

From L-R: Texas A&M University Ken AA Version, University of Oklahoma CC Tori, Oklahoma AA Lara, Kentucky CC Aphrodite, Kentucky AA Christie, Tennessee CC Teresa, Tennessee AA Goddess, Malibu Barbie by Trina Turk, Dolls of the World Morocco Lara & lastly Canada Superstar.

It seems like the University line is inconsistent with facial screening. Some of them look rather Playline in style but some of them look really nice. Kentucky AA Christie I think looks the best from the bunch. I love her eyes but I’m not a fan of the Superstar era sculpts. I’m wondering if she’ll look pretty with the ModelMuse body. Tennessee CC Teresa also looks good. She looks totally different from her prototype. I kinda like her but she seemed younger compared to other dolls with the Teresa sculpt. The doll I’m excited about is Oklahoma CC Tori. I’ve been wondering why the Tori sculpt haven’t made an appearance for such a long time. It's one of the prettier sculpts from Mattel. I like her but I’m partial with her face paint screening. I wish Linda use the Tori sculpt again for DOTW maybe as a blonde. Oklahoma AA Lara & Tennessee AA Goddess are so-so but Kentucky CC Aphrodite…What happened??? She look so different from her promo. She's the most disappointing to me.

I don’t have a major issue with Malibu Barbie. I love the idea & the design of the doll. I think it would be predictable if she was designed with platinum hair. There’s too many tanned skin platinum blondes out there. So I like her the way she is. I also love tan dolls with nude lips. So with that, she’s a winner in my book. Another doll that I think is pretty is DOTW Morocco Lara. As expected from Mattel, the promos are more beautiful than their production dolls. Though there might be some major differences in her face screening, I think she still came out pretty. Prettiest from the bunch actually. I can’t say much about DOTW Canada Superstar other than she look like the Little Mermaid.
