This is a short and long collection of photographs taken in various small towns of Sicily; in these countries often in appearance almost uninhabited, I met several elderly people often inclined to tell amazing stories of their past, with my great interest, but I have met a few young people, and in one of these villages people do not celebrate anymore their Patron Saint, because there aren't young people to carry on their shoulders the float with the heavy statue .... It's the last few hours the alarm given by CENSIS, the collapse of births for the crisis, 62,000 were born in less than in a year, but ... if we take account of those countries of Sicily, the collapse of births is from long time that is observed....

I entered as last photos, the ones that I made to Italian and world Master of Photography Ferdinando Scianna, shots taken at the presentation of his latest book, entitled "Visas & Writings".

Questo è una collezione di fotografie, breve e lunga al tempo stesso, scattate in vari piccoli centri della Sicilia; in questi paesini, spesso in apparenza quasi disabitati, ho incontrato spesso persone anziane, a volte inclini a raccontare, con mio grande interesse, importanti eventi del loro passato; pochi giovani presenti, addirittura in uno di questi paesi non si celebra più il Santo Patrono da diversi anni, perché non ci sono più i giovani, vigorosi, a portare sulle loro spalle la vara con la pesante statua .... E' delle ultime ore l'allarme dato dal Censis sul crollo delle nascite, che sarebbe da imputare alla crisi, sarebbero 62.000 i nati in meno in un anno, ma ... se si tiene conto della triste realtà che affligge i molti paesi della Sicilia, allora tale crollo delle nascite è da anni ed ann ... che si osserva ....

Ho inserito come ultime foto quelle che ritraggono il maestro Ferdinando Scianna, maestro Italiano e Mondiale della fotografia, eseguite in occasione della presentazione del suo ultimo libro, avvenuta il 26 settembre di quest'anno in quel di Taormina, libro intitolato "Visti e Scritti".

My eyes are actually green but I remember an Iridologist telling me that there were only brown and blue eyes - I chose to push the image more towards blue because it brought out the detail better.

Angry Ovaries

Now, I will say, that I have had a hysterectomy. Well, a partial one. Everything is gone except my ovaries. When I went to the Amish Iridologist (links below), Mr. Reuben, he said "ma'am, you have angry ovaries." I about spit my water all over him giggling. Yes, sir, my ovaries are angry.

Honestly, I thought it would be better, in the long run, to keep my ovaries. Now, I wish I had had them removed. My goal was to NOT be on hormones. Guess what I am on? Hormones. I started about a month ago. The symptoms have lessened, some, but not much.

Sucky Signs

These are the symptoms that I have currently. Pray for my husband, children, Lola, and my cats. Bless them. Just bless their hearts for having to deal with all that I am bringing to the table.

Iridology

Iridology is the term used to describe the study of markings in the human iris and how they correlate to the fitness of the body. Dr. Bernard Jensen, a well-known iridologist, stated that iridology could be used to discern and locate different stages of tissue inflammation and inherent weaknesses in the body.

While some, like Jensen, believe that iridology is not a diagnostic tool, many believers in and practitioners of iridology think the opposite. Iridology used to be synonymous with iridiagnosis, but changes in legality concerning whom may identify and ‘diagnose’ ailments (namely licensed doctors) and an evolving understanding of the powers of iridology have resulted in the creation and widespread use of the term ‘iris analysis’. This newer term and the related mindset suggest that iridologists are capable of locating certain problems or potential problems (such as a weakness in the lungs), but are not capable of diagnosing what, exactly, is or could cause the problem (such as lung cancer, or asthma)[3]. It is also important to note that iridologists do not always discover an actual problem, but may show what diseases and problems a person may be susceptible to, allowing the person to take proactive measures against said weaknesses.

History of Iridology

Iridology is considered to have two founding fathers: Dr. Ignatz von Peczely and Reverand Nils Liljequist. Both lived in the 1800s, and became interested in how the iris can reflect ailments of the body through personal experience. Peczely, as a child, accidentally broke an owl’s leg, and observed how the colours in its irises changed as it healed. Liljequist noted the changes in his own irises after taking drugs to combat an illness. Peczely and Liljequist independently created iris charts denoting which sections of the iris correspond to which parts of the body, and while the two men never knew of the others’ work their charts turned out to be strikingly similar.

Bernard Jensen (1908-2001) contributed greatly to the iris charts commonly used in iridology today and was a well-known practitioner and advocate of iridology. The Jensen iris chart was slightly modified by his student and daughter-in-law, Ellen Tart-Jensen (Ph.D., D.Sc.), resulting in one of the most widespread iridology charts used today. These more modern charts are highly detailed; Bernard Jensen’s original iris charts have a total of 166 different named areas between the left and right iris charts.

The methods of iridology have changed over time as technology progresses. In the 1800s iris examination was mostly conducted through direct, unmagnified observation, whereas nowadays many iridologists have access to high quality cameras and devices that allow for the observation of the iris at several times magnification. Newer, more widespread technology has greatly aided in the observation of minute details in the iris, and is indirectly responsible for the vastly more detailed iris charts common today.
