پیروان زرتشت معتقدند دفن مردار موجب آلودگی میشود . به گفته ی زرتشت می بایست مردار مردم بدکار در چنین جایی که به آن برج خاموشان گفته میشود گزارده شود تا غذای درندگان و پرندگان باشد . این چرخه ی طبیعتی است که آنان به آن احترام میگذارند . این #دخمه در یزد واقع شده است .
