LA HABANA, jun (IPS) El comienzo de la temporada ciclónica, que según pronósticos será activa, se dejó sentir en Cuba con lluvias intensas que desbordaron ríos e inundaron amplias zonas de la occidental provincia de Pinar del Río, aunque Andrea, la primera depresión tropical del año, no llegó a convertirse en huracán.

Alarma antitabaco prende en Cuba, la cuna de los puros

LA HABANA, 2 Oct 2014 (IPS) - "¿Aquí se puede fumar?", le pregunta un cliente al recepcionista de un hotel en la capital cubana. "No", responde el empleado. El huésped insiste "¿Y esas colillas en el suelo?". "Son de las personas que no preguntaron", espeta el hostelero. El chiste, muy repetido en este país caribeño, describe la situación del derecho a un ambiente libre de humo en Cuba, reconocida por producir los mejores puros tipo Premium del mundo.

Quaiser Khalid, Commissioner of Police Railways Mumbai is an officer of the Indian Police Service. He has written two anthologies of Urdu poetry, consisting of ghazals and nazms, and is the recipient of the Maharashtra State Urdu Sahitya Academy Award.
