Flickr staff have now responded to concerns that flickr was about to close or be sold off following Yahoo's press release on February 2nd. Read staffer Matthew Almon Roth's reassuring remarks at the end of this discussion thread:
ENG: The picture shows the famous Berlin Oberbaumbrücke, which spans the river called Spree and connects the two districts of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. The German descriptive text is written in Berlin dialect and tells a little story. Title: Well look at that, spring in Berlin, isn't it? The bridge and the city are awakening to spring with cherry blossoms.

GER: De Kirschen blühn uff wie verrückt, de Spree glitzert, als hättse grad 'ne ordentliche Politur jekriegt, und drüber tuckert jemütlich die „Icke“ (kennste wa, die knalljelbe IK U-Bahn) über de Oberbaumbrücke, als hättse Zeit bis in de Puppen.
Der eene von die zwee Türme, der glotzt stur in de Sonne, mit sein Bärchen oben druff, steiht da wie 'n richtiger Berliner: stolz, 'n büschen knorrig, aber mit 'nem juten Herz. Unten drunter brummt de Alltag, Leude mit Stöpseln in de Ohren, Touris mit Knipsen, und mittendrin – 'ne lütte Rotzjöre am Fenster von de „Icke“. Die kiekt raus, dösert vor sich hin, vielleicht träumt se von wat Jroßem, oder einfach nur von 'nem Eis in de Schönhauser.
Der Turm hat schon so manchet Kommen und Jehen mitjekriegt – Mauer, Freiheit, Techno, Currywurst – und nu dit kleene Mädel. Er sagt zwar nix, aber wenn er's könnt, würd er flüstern: „Mach dir keen Kopp, kleene. Berlin is manchma'n büschen Knorke, aber ick sag dir, dat lohnt sich.“
Und die „Icke“? Die rattert einfach weiter, als wär dit ihr täglicher Liebesbrief an de Stadt.
