I am a photographer and an artist as well, so my work may tend towards images as originally seen or towards highly elaborated edits. Usually, the pieces I submit to iPhoneographyCentral fall into the second category, grosso modo. But this time the final result is pretty close to the starter photo. The subject is a statue found in a park, made by an anonymous artist. I liked the drama added by the PoV and the light, and as I’m very interested in gender equality, seemed to me a good excuse to express my perplexity about how we haven’t been able to understand --and take over-- our complementarity. Both men and women are plunged into a war that responds to every interest but the awareness --and/or social-- evolution. And we don’t seem to find a solution soon… And I'm not talking about the different versions of marriage, family or coupling. We just urgently need to work together as a species.

So, I only worked on color, adding many layers of textures in Stackables, playing with all the blending modes, and then taking it to the extreme by mixing many versions of the same image in Image Blender, using the opportunity to add/remove a couple of details by masking. When I found an image that pleased me, just added extra textures and details in Repix, where I also made an additional adjustment in color and light. And that was it :)

Among the traces, of earth, spirit, and body, tranquility awaits.

My warm thanks to Nicki Fitz-Gerald and iPhoneographyCentral for the feature. Here's a brief account of what I did to accomplish this piece.

In the process of creating an image I've got the habit of saving many or all the intermediate fases, because some of them might serve as starters to other pieces, or even as 'finished' pieces on their own. This particular piece was a half-way point between the original starter (a picture of a bull piñata hanging outside a restaurant) and this image: www.flickr.com/photos/inenarrar/28833355737/in/photostream/

called "bulls DO have rights", my two cents to the anti-bullfighting movement.

The process basically consisted in blending many versions of the same image, which in turn was a mix of the piñata shot and other image heavily textured in Stackables. Made this mixes in Image Blender, reinforcing intermittently the texturing. Love playing in Stackables/Image Blender, especially because you can get really interesting and intense colors and at the same time do masking work. Both "Rights" and "Revenge" pieces were, btw, the result of one of the rare cases I don't use icolorama along with image blender for blending / masking purposes. "Revenge" is an offshoot of the "Rights" trunk for which i used parts of other mid stages for these images: www.flickr.com/photos/inenarrar/31916174278/in/photostream/

Toi tu disais

C'est pas toujours

Tu disais même

C'est pas ici

Toi tu disais

C'était la nuit

Tu disais même

Qu'il faisait jour

Toi tu disais

C'est pas l'amour

Tu disais même

C'est pas l'envie

Tu disais

C'est une pause

Un tout petit détour

Où parfois chacun dépose

Ses souvenirs des belles choses

Se souvenir des belles choses

Se souvenir des belles choses

Toi tu disais

C'est pour toujours

Puis tu disais

C'est pour la nuit

Toi tu disais

C'est un secret

Avoir le même

C'est une idée

Toi tu disais

C'est par amour

Puis tu disais

C'est par ici

Tu disais

Je te propose

Un tout petit détour

Où parfois chacun dépose

Ses souvenirs des belles choses

Se souvenir des belles choses

Se souvenir des belles choses

I want to.

Do you?

Backstory:

It starts with the bird. I am walking through a small shop, at the mall, with a friend. I glance over and see a bird perched on a table among Halloween decorations. Though someone feels that it is a fall decorative piece, smiling, I clearly see it has a year-round necessity. I gather the bird, excitedly pay for it, and then the creative fodder begins to flutter in my mind. A day or two passes. I am at home, and it comes to me. The idea of flying or the want to fly seems to matter. More importantly, what if this flightless bird could fly?

She whispers to say, "I WANT to."

For my love of photography and storytelling, I find myself creating this image. It proves that inspiration comes in all shapes, sizes, sounds, and feelings.

Mobile photography offers such an artful conduit through which sharing becomes an artform.
