Nele is met de klas naar Blijdorp geweest! En daar zag ze vele dieren gezien, onder andere een tijger en een baby-olifant en pinguïns en haaien en zeehonden, enzovoort! Ze had ook een party van Ross in een speeltuin in Den Haag, met daarna cake binnen in de Engelse kerk. Voor Jeroens 12de verjaardag gingen we weer naar Kijkduin waar Jeroen graag kwam. Het was er gezellig en lekker bij het Grieks restuarant en de kinderen speelden op de boot. Rieneke had dan weer een party van Rachel, en dat was in een poepsjiek Haags schoonheidssalon! 't Was nogal een schoon gezicht: de professionele, beleefde en hardwerkende in het wit geklede juffrouwen die bezig waren met nageltjes lakken en vijlen van de vingertjes en teentjes van 9 meiskes die vol jolijt babbelden en leute maakten en zich geweldig amuseerden! En met een glaasje bubbellimonade erbij, niet beseffend hoezeer ze geprivilegieerd zijn en verwend worden... Het was ook natuurlijk een goeie ervaring voor hen (en training voor later?), en ook voor mij een geheel nieuwe ervaring! We zijn ook op school de nieuwe ipad van Rieneke gaan ophalen en na de configuratie was Rieneke er onmiddellijk mee weg. Apps installeren en muziek luisteren en afleveringen van FC De Kampioenen downloaden. En het is een ipad4 en nu de modernste ipad in huis. Ceres ging een hele week op trip naar de kastelen van de Loire! Vooral het mooi ver de rivier gelegen Chenonceau maakte indruk, maar voor de rest was het vooral gezellig met vriendinnen onder elkaar. Wij gingen met Rieneke en Nele naar meme in Sint-Niklaas, en de dag erna naar de Paradeskeskermis op mijn school in Lier waar opa ook was. Rieneke won weer een hoofdprijs in het plantenkraam net zoals vorig jaar, maar niets met de tombola. Oom Jos en Marie-Jeanne vierden hun 70ste verjaardag (oom Jos met een paar jaartjes vertraging) in de... gevangenis van Hasselt! Die nu wel rechtenfaculteit geworden is, en in de kantine hebben we lekker gegeten met familie en vrienden. De dag erna vierden we feest in volle herfstkleuren bij de Jeroeneboom in Sinaai voor Neles 7de verjaardag. Nu is de herfstvakantie alweer ten einde, maar wij hebben onze champagne weer ingeslagen tijdens champagneweekend met de vrienden van Leuven. Meme en bobonne kwamen toen thuis logeren en babysitten op de kinderen, en gingen met hen winkelen en japans uit eten naar Moshi-Moshi. This is the third image in the series called Mobile Apocalypse.
Artist Statement:
In recent years we have been warned that THE END IS NIGH, but when doomsday came around we were all still here. But with raging tornadoes, flash floods and even meteors hitting earth, could the apocalypse be on its way?
In today’s society Internet users from across the world can communicate through the online network. Information is constantly being shared and an example of this type of information is images. Social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram allow us to quickly send images to other network users. This has also increased the use of phone photography. With snapping and sharing technology at our fingertip with mobile device like phones and tablets, we can share our creations quickly and conveniently.
This project combines an apocalypse with a technological world where images have been taken from my perspective of being in an apocalypse in London. I take pictures wherever I go and I believe that the world ending wouldn't stop me. All images have been taken on and iPhone 5 and then edited in an app called Art Studio on an iPad. By keeping the capturing and editing mobile it gives a representation of images taken on a mobile device during an apocalypse.
