Apple has just released iOS 8.1.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, which had been in testing for a few weeks.

UC Davis computer science major Nick Doherty has been named one of Apple’s “20 Under 20” programming superstars. As part of the build-up to this year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, which took place June 8-12, 2015 in San Francisco, Doherty was cited in the program, which honors developers under the age of 20 who have developed popular items in the iTunes App Store. Doherty is the creator of the Study Cal app, which debuted in August 2014, timed to coincide with the release of Apple’s iOS8. Priced at $1.99, it has been purchased by more than 100,000 users.

• 70s, barebulb, tungsten ‘beauty lights’ above bathroom mirror and in front of subject
• 4.2 mm • f/2.2 • ISO 200 • 1/125 s
COLOPHON
• Two 3– and 4-frame collages were constructed using ‘Pic Stitch’
• Resultant photos were processed using SnapSeed and converted to B/W.
• Captions were added to frames using ‘Over’ and an in-app purchase that offered ‘FuturaCondensedMedium’ as one of the additional font options
• Resultant collages were combined with a screenshot from the iOS ‘Photos’ app into a single one using PS CS5.
• Title font is ‘Brioso Pro’ Regular.

I use Photo Transfer App to get photos from my phone to my computer. But like Photoshop for iOS, this app has started transferring medium resolution images like this one. And the compression is really ugly.
But I think I figured out that there is a conflict between the parameter language in these apps and the new iOS8. When the apps specify an original resolution image, a medium resolution image gets transferred. But when the apps specify a medium resolution image, an original resolution image gets transferred.
Who knows whose fault this is, but it is irritating.
