Safari is quicker, but renders the Apple store with massive problems. I was hoping to see the Live App Banner Apple talked about, but I got this instead. lolz.

New EQ Setting - "Late Night Mode"

UPDATE: Removed in Beta 2

My first panorama with iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S.

Trying out the new iOS6 panorama feature. Not bad. A little smoother than the third party apps for panos.

i will miss my 4S when i sell it soon, its been a very good phone for the last 4 years, still got iOS6 on it and it was very snappy and fast. However the battery has started to give problems and the camera sharpness quality is not as good as before. When i upgraded to the 4S from the 3G, i could not wait to get rid of the 3G, it had no flash light for camera and under power processor, but this time replacing the 4S is emotional, but no point having it sitting on the drawer and its value depreciating.

test with new panoramic setting on ios 6 (iPhone 4s)

Installing iOS 6. I installed iOS 7 today on the same phone. Well, same phone, only not because I had it replaced after it went wonky, but you know what I mean.

Photo prise avec un iPhone 4S (iOS6) avec le mode panorama. Je reste impressionné par le résultat.

Pour info, c'est mon épouse qui se met à la (i)photo ;-)

Although a great feature in ios6, the new panorama mode does not adjust exposure across the image. If you start in a dark area in ios6 panorama mode, the exposure will adjust to show detail. As you sweep into a bright area, this area will be overexposed, washed out.

In the above test, I started (left image) with the sky and swept down to a darker area. Note how no detail is visible in the shadows. (I tried this in reverse, and the sky was washed out to white). I then used a neat little app called AutoStitch to stitch together seven individual images (right image), which also keeps the images at full camera resolution. I started in the dark area, and shot the images moving up to the sky. Starting with the sky produced the same result. Each image adjusted its exposure separately. The app then stitched the images together averaging the exposures to make a seamless image with the dark and light areas correctly exposed. Both the above images are sooc and are about the same size (I did reduce the sizes to make the final file size smaller for flickr).

Im sure you will notice that the sky is nicer in the left ios6 panorama image. I just did this comparison as a quick test and since the exposure can be set and locked with the new camera, I could have played with the setting a bit to get the sky in the right hand image as deep a blue. Try a comparison yourself with AutoStitch using a scene with varying brightness and you will see what I mean. (both images shot with iphone 5.)
