A ground nesting species of wasp that can be found widespread and common over much of Britain and Ireland. The three black facial spots usually help to identify this wasp species,The central black spot is always larger then the lower two facial spots and as seen here this central spot is more defined than usual. Usually seen from mid March to mid November.
This Jumping spider is often found on wooden fences or under tree bark where it will spin its silk cell. All jumping spiders have excellent eyesight in which to stalk their prey. This close-up shown here is an adult female as only the female has the red and yellow around the front of her 4 eyes, there is also 2 smaller eyes further back. Although found widespread over much of the UK this jumping spider species is still scare in the south-east of England.

反嘴鴴顧名思義嘴巴跟一般鳥類不太一樣,有著非常特別的註冊商標細長而上翹的喙,名字也因此得來,在台灣的數量並不多,只有在少數地區,如台南的四草濕地可以看到穩定的渡冬族群,覓食方式特殊,以嘴左右横掃上下勾取水中生物為食。
台江國家公園 (Taijiang National Park),為台灣第八座國家公園,2009年12月28日正式掛牌成立。 台江一名,源自歷史上的台江內海,多已陸化為濕地或魚塭。

The first hawkmoth of the year is always special, so it was great to finally get this Poplar in the garden.
Co Fermanagh, October 2021 - Finding new moths is getting more difficult, especially at this time of year. A couple of nights in Fermanagh offered me a chance to see this species which is quite rare in Ireland.

I wanted to know the name of every stone and flower and insect and bird and beast. I wanted to know where it got its colour, where it got its life - but there was no one to tell me.

What a appears to be a new species for North Antrim, and what a stunner! With less than 300 records in Ireland it is pretty scarce.
