This Jumping spider is often found on wooden fences or under tree bark where it will spin its silk cell. All jumping spiders have excellent eyesight in which to stalk their prey. This close-up shown here is an adult female as only the female has the red and yellow around the front of her 4 eyes, there is also 2 smaller eyes further back. Although found widespread over much of the UK this jumping spider species is still scare in the south-east of England.

生態與分佈 Ecology :

反嘴鴴顧名思義嘴巴跟一般鳥類不太一樣,有著非常特別的註冊商標細長而上翹的喙,名字也因此得來,在台灣的數量並不多,只有在少數地區,如台南的四草濕地可以看到穩定的渡冬族群,覓食方式特殊,以嘴左右横掃上下勾取水中生物為食。

台江國家公園 (Taijiang National Park),為台灣第八座國家公園,2009年12月28日正式掛牌成立。 台江一名,源自歷史上的台江內海,多已陸化為濕地或魚塭。

Seeing lots of these in the woods recently, fantastic looking big beetles.

The first hawkmoth of the year is always special, so it was great to finally get this Poplar in the garden.

Great little moth from the garden last night.

Quite a rare moth in Ireland, but fortunately it is found locally on the cliffs of North Antrim.

They are not rare, but the first hawkmoths of the year are always great to see.

North Antrim - October 2022. The most common moth at the weekend. A lot of variation in the amount of red present.

What a appears to be a new species for North Antrim, and what a stunner! With less than 300 records in Ireland it is pretty scarce.

A Peony leaf stuck to the window so it was backlit by the sun. Colours inverted.
