Paul Cézanne’s Self-Portrait with a Beret (1898–1900) demonstrates the artist’s mastery in exploring his own visage through introspective brushwork. A sense of detachment characterizes this painting, possibly his last self-portrait, as his eyes lack detailed animation, suggesting psychological distance. While elements like the jacket and chair are thinly painted and incomplete, the rich, deliberate color planes defining his forehead and cheekbones illustrate Cézanne’s ongoing commitment to composition and form. This painting passed through notable hands, including dealer Ambroise Vollard, collector Egisto Fabbri, and dealer Paul Rosenberg, before being acquired by Robert Treat Paine II and ultimately gifted partially by his daughter, Elizabeth Paine Metcalf, to the MFA in 1972.
The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870 and relocated to its current neoclassical building designed by architect Guy Lowell at 465 Huntington Avenue in 1909. The museum's vast collection spans over 500,000 works of art, with highlights including ancient Egyptian artifacts, 18th- and 19th-century American art, French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces, and a renowned collection of Asian art. Originally located in a Gothic Revival building in Copley Square, much of the museum’s early collection came from the Boston Athenaeum Art Gallery. Over the years, the museum expanded significantly, adding the Decorative Arts Wing in 1968, the Norman Jean Calderwood Garden Court and Terrace in 1997, and a modern Americas Wing in the mid-2000s designed by Foster and Partners.

"Introspective lapse
catching my fleeting thoughts
in the artful shades
14 km east of Katmanudu
face to face
with this sentient being."

A ’20s themed shoot, and an introspective look at Riley Willson, ft. a fishing spot near his home town of Red Deer, Grandfather’s fly fishing rod/Knights of Columbus attire, Riley's father's fishing rod, Riley's childhood N64 controller, and Riley/Sasha's dog Zoey.
The shoot consisted of various formats, including: 4×5, 35mm and digital full frame.
I’m still waiting to develop the Ektar and Delta frames, and will be posting those at a later date, along with an interview from Riley.
There was only one preview shot included in this set, and that's something I will be doing more of in the future- and iphone as well.
I've been in talks with Riley, and we'll be doing a second shoot, for sure- involving a boat!! Ideas are a floatin' already.

I never thought youd be a junkie
Because heroin is so passe.
But today,
If you think that I dont know
About depression and
Emotional pain,
Youre insane, or your
A fool who hasnt paid attention
To a word that I say.
In a way, I cant
Help but feel responsible.
I always knew that you were insane
With your pain.
But I never thought youd be a junkie
Because heroin is so passe
Now a-day.
You never thought youd get addicted,
Just be cooler in an obvious way.
I could say, shouldnt you have got
A couple peircings and decided
May-be that you were gay.
In a way
I cant help but feel responsible,
I always knew that you were insane
With you pain
But I never thought youd be a junkie
Because heroin is so passe hey.
An introspective moment for a young gorilla - is he contemplating Time and Space? The laws of Gravity? Is he perhaps doing random word association in his head while staring at the plat life in front of him? We may never know.
Following "The Drinking Dog"...
As the dog stopped drinking, he just stood there for a split second.. looking... thinking perhaps - I was lucky enough to capture the moment.
I love the expression in his eyes...

Veronica is, apparently, the patron saint of photographers!
To commemorate this I thought I would post these four images from Le Mans demonstrating the digital evolution.

He looks so much younger when he shaves off his beard, which he does every now and again, for me, so he says. :) :) :)
You say I'm introspective? Give me some time to think about that.
