Life is full of unknowns. With each breath, with each step we take, we don't really know what will happen in the next moment, the next day, no matter how much we make plans. We're always walking into the unknown. This moment is all we're really sure of - let's make it count.
That's my bit of philosophy for the day....
HSS!
We've had foggy weather for days now, and I got out shooting three of those days.
I took this one several days ago in West Vancouver. We were heading to a new trestle bridge that we hadn't been to yet, and these seemed like welcoming rays.
You'll be seeing a lot of foggy images here in the next while :)
It's time to leave... for a while. :)
I've got busy, but interesting weeks ahead. Mostly without proper internet, so I won't be able to enjoy your masterpieces or post some myself. See you soon friends!

Es ist Zeit zu gehen... Für eine Weile. :)
Ich habe arbeitsreiche, aber interessante Wochen vor mir. Meistens ohne anständiges Internet, daher werde ich nicht in der Lage sein, eure Kunstwerke zu würdigen oder selbst welche zu posten. Bis bald Freunde!
Onward we go! Step after step along a corridor of light we follow our own destiny. No chance to falter, no chance to stagger, always forward. Sharp turns, deadlocks, junctions, loopings, the journey never ends. Let's make it as worthwhile as possible!
rising with trust
with heartfelt gratitude
wishing you a peaceful year ahead...
simply a little quiet light to start the year

If I had to chose a place where I could stay happily for the rest of my life, it would be the ocean. There is nothing comparable. I mean yes, woods and mountains have their own unique allure, but the vastness of the sea is just something else. What do you think?
…Oats, peas, beans and barley grow,
Oats, peas, beans and barley grow.
Can you or I or anyone know;
How oats, peas, beans and barley grow?….
Growing on the flanks of the Camel Estuary at Padstow and gently swaying in the breeze - sorry about the earworm………

fog
Some noise problems. But this was shot at iso 100. The fog makes it look like it was shot at 1200:p
Pretty much straight out of the camera. Just some smudge removing as it was pouring down and my lens had a lot of rain drops on it..
Edit: 600 views and 200 faves. Thats numbers I never have seen before on any of my shots! Cheers!
With thanks to....

I'm here again
A thousand miles away from you
A broken mess, just scattered pieces of who I am
I tried so hard
Thought I could do this on my own
I've lost so much along the way
Then I see your face....
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole
I find everything I thought I lost before

We always talk about steep and stony paths we humans have to take, but have you ever considered that animals might suffer from the same fate? I mean, look at this little fella, eagerly watching the dark entrance to the brushes, trying to muster his courage to step forward as he senses the light on the other side.
Should we risk heading out or should we just stay home?
It was the first day of our holiday, so there was no choice, we had to head out and risk the conditions. Little did we realise just how bad visibility was once we left the station and started heading up the slopes.
Although the descent was not easy, nor even that much fun, I have never again experienced the light and conditions of that day again. But happily, the fog lifted in the afternoon allowing us to shred the slopes for the rest of the day.
A striking zebra navigates the red sands of Namibia, its black-and-white stripes standing in stark contrast to the desert’s warm hues. A symbol of resilience and adaptability, this magnificent animal thrives in one of Africa’s most challenging landscapes.
A solitary speed limit sign stands in the vast expanse of an endless desert road. The open sky stretches infinitely, merging with the barren landscape, where time and direction seem to vanish into the horizon. Here, the journey itself is the destination.
You'd have to be a psychopath to use this image without considerable thought. I concluded that the back story still
deserves greater exposure. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execution_of_Nguyễn_Văn_Lém

A cosy afternoon TV fireside chat with the spirit of the long gone naughty boy from the Emerald Isle.
after 11 years, i have decided to take a break from the modeling photography to focus on getting back into editorial and commercial photography. i have always done a bit of both, but let the modeling take precedence. i realized it was time to work on my career rather than everyone else's! i will still have my portrait clients, but i am soooooo excited that i am now free to work on my stuff full time! today was my last official day (for a while at least.)
the new website (www.racheldevine.com) is finally built and my first mailing goes out before the end of the month.
yikes, now i have no excuses! wish me luck.
During the height of the pandemic, the "upkeep" of the arboretum we frequently visit was less than thrilling. But it was during the pandemic - so very understandable.
A recent visit to the arboretum gave me flashbacks to that time, as my favorite trail which runs between the lake and this fence is clearly beyond overgrown. If I hadn't known it was a trail, I might have completely avoided this overgrown nightmare.
But, having already dowsed myself in bug spray, I pulled up my big gurl panties and foraged ahead - but took this photo just in case I disappeared, never to be found again.
