These cattails from last year are glowing from a low sun resting behind them, which produced a brilliant, golden bokeh.

Welcome to my world of images. Thanks for visiting.
Alagna Valsesia.
The sun of late afternoon shines throught the forest.
Shot taken along the trail for the upper meadows of the valley of Rio Otro.
La luce del sole, nel tardo pomeriggio, filtra attraverso gli alberi del bosco che si percorre per entrare in Val D'Otro.
... or Is this the way to Machrihanish?
Rather than try to be helpful as my mum and dad tried to figure out the way towards Machrihanish from Campbeltown, I shot this image through the rain-soaked car window into the setting sun :D
I took this with my "newest" vintage lens, a CZ Jena Pancolar 50mm f1.8.
I won't have you guess what this is, because I wouldn't even know what it was if I hadn't taken it :)
I was in the back yard looking for something to photograph. The neighbour had placed something (I think it's the top of a broken bird cage, with chains to hang it) on top of a stump just over the fence between our yards. There was an autumn leaf lying in it as well as bits of branches and other "flotsam and jetsam." I liked the look of it and even though I was shooting right into the morning sun, I went for it. I'm quite happy with the bokeh taken wide open.

l suppose l shouldn't complain about the sun as it feels like we haven't seen it for weeks...but this afternoon l was driving into the sun and walking into the sun...with hindsight l should have started were l finished and finished were l started :-)
Rework of an image originally uploaded 8 years ago, which is now deleted.
After spending the night at Bristol Temple Meads snapping trains, I decided for a change of scene and took the local unit out to Severn Tunnel Junction.
After what had been a cold night, the early morning sun was welcome and, while basking in it trying to keep warm, it was hard to ignore the scene above and particularly the picturesque glint off the rails. Hence the shot.
Taken pretty well straight into the sun on a wing and a prayer regards exposure, thankfully I decided to bracket a few attempts, got lucky, and managed to get a keeper. The purist may not like the bit of flare around the signal but it appeals to me, so I left it in.
Croeso i Gymru indeed.

My mother bought me a camera for my tenth birthday (75 years ago) and told me to always have the sun at my back so it would light the subject. It was the first of many rules l broke in photography.

I shot in a hurry and deliberately straight into the sun so please forgive the blown out highlights. Late afternoon, early evening where the road meets the beach at Brighton, in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs.
Thank you for viewing, favourites or comments :)
Towards the sun but conveniently (with a few side steps from me) positioned between two conifers this Kestrel presented something of an unusual opportunity
Not classic photography
But different photography
And I'm always interested in something different!
As some of you will know, I adore the grasses season, especially when they are in flower, like the Arrhenatherum elatius (False Oat Grass) depicted here. I was shooting these into the sun on a windy day, but I liked the overall impression the photos give of the beauty of the grass. I hope you like it too.
Another weekday and it's another train ride, this time over to Nottingham for a family visit.
I was going to pack the little Sony but, at the last minute, opted to go for the 5D instead. Glad I did now because down at my local the sun was shining rather nicely for a glint shot, and what better than to shoot a few frames on the Tesco Liners while giving a cheery wave to Diana again - people will start talking!
For the record, DRS class 88 unit 88009 'Diana' hauls the 6.15am Daventry - Mossend Euroterminal Tesco container train (4S43) north through Acton Bridge station.
Hard to believe this was the same train I snapped last Friday - certainly a case of 'every little helps' this time around.
