I love these purple flowers, that I had to look up to find out what they were, Blue Grape Hyacinth. A few other photographers have favoured these as well and it's not hard to see why, as they are a very interesting flower. As it implies via the name how often in nature one witnesses imitation from one object to another, the variation is fascinating, especially for a nature nerd like me.

While Jökulsárlón gets the crowds, Fjallsárlón offers a much closer, more intimate look at the raw power of Iceland's glaciers. Because this lagoon is smaller, the scale of the Fjallsjökull ice wall feels massive as it looms right over the floating icebergs. The silence here is only broken by the occasional "groan" of colliding ice or the calls of Arctic skuas overhead.

On a hike around the Peitlerkofel, a striking peak on the northern edge of the Dolomites, in bright sunshine at the beginning of October we experienced both the first snow of the season and brilliant larches in their autumn colors.
Auf einer Wanderung um den Peitlerkofel, ein markanter Gipfel am Nordrand der Dolomiten, erlebten wir Anfang Oktober bei strahlendem Sonnenschein sowohl den ersten Schnee für diese Saison als auch leuchtende Lärchen im Herbstkleid.
An image from my Elements series, from the incredible Antilope Canyon in Arizona. Shot on a (by today's standards) medium quality camera, but at least back then it was still possible to use a tripod, i heard recently this is no longer permitted?

The ecology of Dippers is intimately linked to river ecosystems, as they rely on them for food and breeding. Dippers are unique among songbirds in that they feed by diving into fast flowing waters and searching through stones and pebbles in the river bed for macroinvertebrates (such as mayfly or caddisfly larvae).

An intimate moment between a courting couple, with the male (top) completing his performance with some head-wagging, tongue lashing and slow wing flapping - a delightful spectacle to behold!

The color is starting to pop around here, though only in spots.

I keep going back to this area as with each new storm and flash flood, the colors and shapes and drapes of mud change into new and interesting patterns.
