Internally displaced people (IDPs) has become a really common term in such a short time here. Sometimes I refer to them as refugees as a shorter phrase, but IDP describes what they are so much better. This is about half of the families represented. Some were about a 45 minute drive in a smaller village and some came a little later. There were not many children there at the time because they were in school. The local schoolmaster graciously let them enroll their children in his school even though they did not have money for the school's fees (books, uniforms).

The indoor hydro-box boiler has no need for ventilation or flues and can be situated in a cupboard freeing up space on the kitchen walls. (The hydro-box could also be positioned in a loft if space was limited).

Notice the laser beam
This is the internals of my old DVD player that developed problems reading disks. I opened it up to see if I could see if there were dust on the lens (there weren't) and then I noticed that the laser beam was visible when playing ordinary CD's (no, I DIDN'T stare directly in the beam ;) ).
So I rigged up my video camera and filmed it, thinking that I could have use for the footage someday.
Everything appears to be designed with perfect symmetry in muslim architecture. It's to the point where anything slightly "off" is disproportionately unpleasant.
Internal baffle / ant-slosh tank that is clearly designed to keep the input supply pipe to the HP fuel tank submersed all the time.
This kills me. This series of photos are of wall-hangings from the Cerrejon corporate office on-site at the world's largest open-pit coal mine. Two feature portraits of indigenous Wayuu women (this picture featuring face paint worn in a ritual dance our delegation was fortunate enough to see). Two feature pictures of the earth-moving machines that serve to displace, poison & starve Wayuu communities.
