Juniperus excelsa 'Stricta' 3/2022 Greek Juniper D2- (Juniperus chinensis ft.Excelsaft.) Intermediate Spiny Greek Juniper, Size at 10 years: 10x5ft., blue-green needles, USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Michigan Bloom Month -, In Garden Bed D2 for 12.5 YEARS (Lowes,). Planted in 2009.
American Conifer Society: SPINY GREEK JUNIPER. Very hardy. Inextricably confused with the comparatively tender and rare authentic GRECIAN JUNIPER (J. excelsa). Broadly columnar to conical, very dense. Foliage mostly juvenile, harshly prickly, grayish- to bluish-green or silver-gray. Needles 1/8" long -1/2" long, in trios. Male flowers predominate.
Cupressaceae (koo-press-AY-see-ee) family. Tall upright juniper. Rapid growth. Mid Driveway. Can be trained in a spiral form to make this boring conifer bearable. Planted in 2009. Never trimmed. This is probably Juniperus chinensis 'Excelsa'
