1979 was the final year for the passenger car-based Ranchero utility truck, being based on the intermediate LTD II (a rebadged Torino) between the 1977 and 1979 model years. Since the compact Falcon Ranchero was dropped in 1965, Ford moved its utility model up to the larger intermediate Fairlane/Torino platform, which was rebadged as LTD II for 1977 to be a smaller option for full sized LTD customers in response to GM's new downsized full size models.

The LTD II was among the largest passenger cars ever built in the intermediate class and was only available with V8s. With fuel economy a growing issue, Ford effectively replaced the dated LTD II with a new downsized intermediate with compact dimensions and offering similar or greater interior and cargo room, the 1978 Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr on the new Fox body platform. The Ranchero continued to the end of the 1979 model year with either a 5.0 (302) or 5.8 liter (351) V8.

By then passenger car based utility trucks were declining and Ford officially offered no successor to the Ranchero, though the 1981 Durango was built by an aftermarket company using the downsized Fox platform Fairmont and officially distributed and sold by Ford dealers with factory warranty.

This is a 500 series standard model.

Factory delivered suggested retail price $5,866 for standard 500 series, curb weight as delivered 3,698 lb, maximum 1,250 lb load rating with heavy duty package, 3,500 lb towing capacity when equipped, 133 HP (5.0/302 V8) or 151 HP (5.8 liter/351 V8).

Ardeidae (Ardea intermedia)

Totally in Photography Class at the moment (1/14/16 16:22 EST). We're posting stuff to Tumblr, but I'm waiting for everyone to hurry up.

There's a secret stash of LEGO in the Photography Studio, and I know where it is. Sadly, it's not mine though.

Design and folded by me from a 6inch square sheet of single brown tissue paper.

An Intermediate Egret perched on a rock. The patience of these birds to perch till they find their food is quite something - try spending time watching one of these, and it's quite easy to give up sooner than they make a move.

Intermediate egret

This species looks similar to the great egret but smaller in size with neck length a little less than body length, has a slightly domed head, and a shorter and thicker bill.

Location- Jorhat, Assam, India

Nice viewed large!

An intermediate spiral galaxy with an active galactic nucleus of Seyfert type 2. The galaxy lies at a distance of about 24 million light years. It contains a supermassive black hole with a mass of around 40 million Suns and a galactic scale water microwave laser (maser). It was discovered in 1781 by Pierre Méchain.

Locomotive History

25065 was built at Derby Works in 1963 as D5215 and was one of a small number of Class 25 locomotives fitted with a Stone Vapor L4610 train heating boiler. It entered traffic in July 1963 allocated to Toton before transfer to Cricklewood a month later. It remained in the London area for the next eleven years with spells at both Cricklewood and Willesden before returning to Toton in January 1975. It transferred to Springs Branch in October 1976 and its final move was to Haymarket in May 1977, from where it was withdrawn in February 1981. Its withdrawal was a bit of a surprise as it had received a classified repair (Intermediate) at Glasgow Works only eleven months earlier. It was broken up during February 1982 at Swindon Works. 47264 was originally D1964 and was built at Crewe Works, entering traffic on the September 1965. In 1984 it was fitted with electric train heating and emerged from Crewe Works in August 1984 as 47619. In June 1989 it was fitted with long range fuel tanks and renumbered 47829. It was withdrawn in March 2006 and eventually broken up during February 2013 by CF Booth Rotherham.

This Intermediate Egret In breeding plumage was foraging for food and as I approached he started to dance.

I can not help but love the birds that I photograph. I was very excited to see this bird perform like he did.

The intermediate egret, median egret, smaller egret, or yellow-billed egret (Ardea intermedia) is a medium-sized heron. Some taxonomists put the species in the genus Egretta or Mesophoyx. It is a resident breeder from east Africa across the Indian subcontinent to Southeast Asia and Australia.

This species, as its scientific name implies, is intermediate in size between the great egret and smaller white egrets like the little egret and cattle egret, though nearer to little than great. It is about 56–72 cm (22–28 in) long with a 105–115 cm (41–45 in) wingspan and weighs c. 400 g (14 oz), with all-white plumage, generally dark legs and a thickish yellow bill. Breeding birds may have a reddish or black bill, greenish yellow gape skin, loose filamentous plumes on their breast and back, and dull yellow or pink on their upper legs (regional variations). The sexes are similar.
