The field where the paragliders float in to land with Jungfrau overlookimg the valley in the background is the quintessential view of Interlaken. What the image doesn't show is the 3 or 4 paragliders floating back and forth waiting their turn and the 6 - 8 that just launched themselves off the mountain top. It's a constant parade from morning to late afternoon/early evening of brilliantly colored parachutes.

Interlaken is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Highlands region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region. Since 1838, the village Aarmühle began to use the name Interlaken for its post office and train station, leading to that name becoming more well known. Officially the name changed to Interlaken in 1891.
