Rannoch Moor (/ˈrænəx/ (listen), Scottish Gaelic: Mòinteach Raineach/Raithneach) is an expanse of around 50 square miles (130 km2) of boggy moorland to the west of Loch Rannoch in Scotland, where it extends from and into westerly Perth and Kinross, northerly Lochaber (in Highland), and the area of Highland Scotland toward its south-west, northern Argyll and Bute. Rannoch Moor is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation.[2] Much of the western part of the moor lies within the Ben Nevis and Glen Coe National Scenic Area,[3] one of 40 such areas in Scotland
Commonly known as La Compañia, this Catholic church is one of the most important places of interest in Quito. It is even said to be one of the 7 wonders of Ecuador. Located in the historical centre of the country's capital, it is the most visited place for travellers. It was once part of a university called Santa Gregorio, which was the Ecuadorian Jesuit headquarters during the Spanish colonial empire.

The reserve is approximately 50 hectares (124 acres) in size and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its wetland habitats, in particular, the wet woodland.
The path from the parking lot to the Schiessentümpel waterfall, runs along the river Zwarte Ernz.
There I saw this little waterfall.

Herring gull flew just past me as I managed to catch it mid flight but it was the clarity of its eye and beak that peaked my interest
This image of a handsome Mandarin Duck was captured in an urban park somewhere in London. Although this particular duck was free-living, his relative fearlessness probably meant he interacted regularly with humans.
This species of duck is native to Eastern Asia (China, Japan and Russia), where they are now rare, although a large and thriving introduced population can be found in the British Isles and Western Europe, with additional smaller introductions in North America.
The Mandarin Duck is a very rare winter visitor to Hong Kong. Over the last five years of constant searching, I’ve only ever managed to see a single wild pair in Hong Kong.
Thank you for your interest, views, faves, comments and awards ! This image was captured in London, UK 英國倫敦. (Better viewed on a larger screen.)

From our day out visiting historic sites on Dartmoor. From the Bronze Age settlement Grimspound we walked up the hill to Hookney Tor which is a nice viewpoint for the circular stonewall surrounding Grimspound. It was one of the rare sunny days during the holidays so we were happy to make most of the good weather! Blue skies don't add much interest to a landscape so I played around with placing the sun just behind the granite outcrops to create a nice sunburst.
I have so many favourite walks that it would be difficult to make a list of my top 10, but this one from Tyneham to Kimmeridge would have to be on it.
This stretch of coast is of interest to geologists because cliffs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods are well exposed here. On this walk you get to travel in time, starting with the white chalk cliffs of the Cretaceous, then moving down through the coloured sands and clays of the Greensand and Wealden, pale Portland limestone to the grey Kimmeridge Clay you see on the lower cliff here.
A nice early morning mist adds some extra interest to this image, taken near Kidderminster in Worcestershire.
It’s been a while since I made one of these. Actually, it’s been a while since I took any photos at all, so why not look at all of the twelve shots I took of this small pedestal-thing at once?
Taken in the walled garden at West Dean, Sussex.

ENG: The Schäzlerpalais Staircase in Augsburg can be seen, this museum houses the municipal and state art collection. It is located at the Herkulesbrunnen, directly at the corner of Maximilianstraße and Katharinengasse and used to be the city palace of a banker.
The former Palais House on site was replaced by a new building in 1765. This rococo palace was built according to plans by the Munich court architect Karl Albert von Lespilliez. The construction work took four and a half years. In October 1958, Wolfgang Freiherr von Schaezler (fourth generation) donated the building to the city of Augsburg on condition that it never be sold and used exclusively for cultural purposes.

I had great hopes for my very first visit to Anglesey a week or so ago. I had completed my research, asked others for their advice on photographic locations and was quite looking forward to taking some snaps somewhere a bit different from my usual haunts. It was all mapped out... a sunset at that location, a sunrise here, a night shoot there, and so on.
The reality was three days of mostly horizontal driving rain interspersed with fog, wind and sea mist so thick at times I could barely see the hand in front of my face. After relentless bad weather, the clouds finally separated for about two hours on my last morning so I raced across to Penmon on the north east tip of Anglesey.
It was still blowing pretty hard but at least it wasn’t driving rain and I did manage to get the camera out to show it what a lighthouse looks like.
Thanks as always for your interest and support.
