Just sold this print I took in Yangzhou oh so long ago!
Sold 6 prints in recent weeks, more than I've sold in the last 3 years! - (plus 12 prints sent to my friend Ryk (z.ikon) in NY in exchange for which he gave me 5 of his wonderful intaglio prints ...see his website
rykekedal.com/gallery.html#top).
Not sure what's going on.... but it feels good, especially after a long lull and the fact that the photos went to people who have been to my exhibitions in the past and who already have at least one of my prints on their walls.
You can see all the prints I have sold over a decade and a half in this album:
It always surprises me what people choose.
While in Paris last summer we visited Musée Baudelle. This was the atelier where he worked. Like all studios it is a small space with good light.
I am always shook when I find myself in studios of well known artists from the past. I just feels so significant to me.

3) The Date Letter - The letter, along with the other two symbols, indicates that the assay was performed in 1987.
4) The Maker's Mark - can be stamped either as raised above the background (cameo) or set into the background (intaglio.) The image is of CJ Vander, Ltd., in the style in use from 1969 - 2001. The company was founded by Cornelius Joshua Vander in 1886 and closed in 2007.

This Intaglio type was made during my 4th year at the Academy in Arendonk Belgium where I study Graphic Design.
It is part of my life theme Searching for Walden. In this long image I have merged landscapes to create new ones.
In search of a place where you can be at home (Walden). Places where you can stay for a while, rest for a while or be distracted from everyday life. And then further…
Images are made with toy- and vintage cameras mostly, with Kodak HP5 and developed in Rodinal.
I made plates of these images with photopolymer.
Then I printed them on Hahnemuhle etching paper.
Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz.
Amethyst was used as a gemstone by the ancient Egyptians and was largely employed in antiquity for intaglio engraved gems.
The Greeks believed amethyst gems could prevent intoxication, while medieval European soldiers wore amethyst amulets as protection in battle in the belief that amethysts heal people and keep them cool-headed. Beads of amethyst were found in Anglo-Saxon graves in England. Anglican bishops wear an episcopal ring often set with an amethyst, an allusion to the description of the Apostles as "not drunk" at Pentecost in Acts 2:15.

Visita fotografica a Sutrio, in Carnia, Friuli Venezia Giulia, nord-est dell'Italia. 21 foto.

Look, Dad, I'm king of the Rideau River!
"Perhaps the king's dog would be more accurate?"
Careful, minion, if you think this is wet, you don't want to
see the dungeon.
(This photo was taken almost exactly four years ago. The park on this side is Riverain, and across the river is Strathcona Park.)

In 2009, I undertook a 3-week photographic commission in Scotland. I had freedom to travel around and make pictures of the landscape and castles. When I think about working in the land my overall feeling is busy. This is why I am drawn to quiet views, simple scenes that bring me comfort when I view the prints. I am revisiting the negatives from this trip, and like in this case printing some for the first time.
The Forth rail bridge crosses the Firth of Forth from the East of Scotland near Edinburgh. The bridge was completed in 1890, I made this picture 119 years later in 2009.

Père-Lachaise in Paris is a very well known and famous landmark cemetery. I felt a bit odd as I had never photographed in a cemetery before. I walked around and found myself noticing that it reminded me of many of the streets I had been walking on in Paris. A different set of homes for sure but it felt familiar and different at the same time.
