A few insulators have already been picked possibly by the workers themselves, Hemingray CD 152s, 145 Bs and 162s etc.
If you're from the Guelph area there's lots of CD 154s and 155s still here, some are seized, you may want to use a pruning saw to cut the pins off.
Store the insulator in dry place for a few weeks. The pin will slowly dry out and then the insulator will unscrew.

While sitting on an old rotted log in the middle of the woods waiting for a train to show up and photograph, I noticed this glass insulator about five feet away partially buried in the ground. Before I decided to pull it out of the ground I took a quick shot of it before I disturb the insulator, still not knowing what I found.

The fuse cutout they installed. The grey tube is the actual fuse, the ring lets them operate it with a hook pole. The original tap on the main circuit for the branch line was on the right of the insulator.

These are my very 1st insulators I found and are a Hemingray 42 and a Kerr and were found along a railroad many years ago.. I mounted them together and made a little display..
These are my first insulators that I found in the wild and near a train track not too far from my house. My Aunt drove me to the tracks so I just grabbed what I could. There was a pile of poles, crossarms, and a dumpster on the other side of the road but I didn't was to risk it.. I plan to go there again some other time. All the glass ones a Hemingrays. Anyone know what the Spool insulators on the upper right coner are made of and from?? There some solid insulators that almost look like cement (??) These were laying on the ground mostly a few feet away where the bases of the poles were standing, some of them are chipped but I still wanted them. I did see some pretty looking Hemingrays but they were busted.
