Instructors Sean Gray, left, and Mike Wood, right, of the DC Yoshinkan, demonstrate Yoshinkan Aikido at Community Center on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall May 2. Gray and Wood teach Yoshinkan Aikido on Fort Myer Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost for eight weeks of training is $90 per person; 12 weeks costs $120. Virginia Army National Guard senior noncommissioned officers assigned to the Fort Pickett-based 2nd Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute learn new techniques and procedures for administering the U.S. Army’s Physical Readiness Training curriculum during the Cadre Training Course Sep. 24, 2014, at Fort Pickett, Va. A total of 22 students expect to complete the weeklong course, which teaches a variety of helpful tools, knowledge and the fundamentals of assuming responsibilities of a Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training or One Station Unit Training Company.
