This wonderful autumnal scenery had been already a picture, even before I opened the shutter of my camera. As the sun had already set behind the horizon, the bark of the apple tree beautifully reflects the light bouncing off from the after-glowing sky. The terrific red leaves give the scene the extra taste of a miracle.

The first shots I provably made myself and for which I also have memories (both on paper and - probably constantly refreshed by the existing prints - also in my mind) are from when I was about 4-5 years old.

This picture shows an early attempt of creative composition* including the shadow of the photographer ;-) - it's from the same roll of film as the surrounding two photographs.

* there's also a boring version showing both my parents in an orderly way, complete and side by side, but I guess that other shot was just a concession of the young and rebelling artist to the norms and wishes of his beloved ancestors...

The used camera btw. was a Kodak Instamatic - see lippisches-kameramuseum.de/Kodak/Kodak_Instamatic_100.htm or www.lomography.de/magazine/246159-lomopedia-kodak-instama...

Browsing through old photo albums after Christmas, I stumbled upon what I consider the roots of my photographic history. This picture shows, how early I was fascinated by cameras... ;-)

I remember that I liked to play with an allegedly defective two-eyed SLR (TLR) some years later, which was made for 35mm film (probably an Agfa Optima Reflex, see www.lomography.de/magazine/246159-lomopedia-kodak-instama...) - there was no film involved at any time and so there're no pictures from that playing-around...

This picture shows something that obviously fascinated me - an observation in time and space, interpreted in the fast and blurry way a five-year-old encounters new things in the world ;-) it's from the same roll of film as the previous/next two photographs.
