(2019) Everlasting

Have been busy moving, and left me not much time to post anything for daily art.

Of course, the recent unresolved issue with Instagram also brought down my spirit a little.

But something is everlasting, like love, like family, like the essence of truth and beauty.

I do think goodness and truthfulness will prevail over evilness and lies, even it will takes a life time.

I guess this is what a believer calls what faith is.

我堅信善良和誠實將勝過邪惡和謊言，不是不到，只是時候未到。

Here's an abstract tribute to Batman and Joker, with an art inspired by Picasso's Guernica (1937).

I think the same sentiment applies to almost everything, like we can replace “trust” with a “society” or a “city”.

Granted nothing escapes entropy, but we shall not despair and should never give in to destruction.

(2019) Lady Justice

July 17th is the birthday of my sister and my best friend Eliot. It is also the international day of justice, so here is the colored tribute to them, with an abstract goddess of justice.

I’ve found it disturbing to use “lack of faith” in justice as an excuse to undermine the rule of law.

For an example, if I let my kids barge into your home, trashing everything then I claim it is for justice, for freedom, for human right... I fully support my kids because I believe their action are just. Would you buy it?

I believe true democracy must be built upon a fine justice system.

Without citizens to respect rules of law, how do we participate democracy?

七月十七日是我姊姊及我老友生日，亦是國際司法日，所以畫了一幅抽象的正義女神紀念。

最近與反送中人士/反中人士有激烈的辨論何謂司法正義。

本人認為以不信任法治為理由/借口，而去破壞法治，去扭曲法治，是很荒謬的。

示威者攻擊法治的前線 - 警察

示威者破壞法治的場所 - 立法院

示威者詆毀法治的根基 - 反修訂逃犯條例（殺人犯可逍遙法外）/ 要求絕對徹銷對示威者的暴力審查 （但要求嚴懲警察濫用暴力）

昨日香港報紙頭版竟然還有香港長者說，無論他們的孩子怎麼鬧，都是有理由，所以都是對的，都要絕對支持。

本人認為自由民主是建立在大公無私的法治之上的。

國人的司法素質不夠，又何談民主？

(2019) Atomic Blast

This is a tribute art of Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019), created while binge watching HBO's Chernobyl (2019).

The blue atomic blast shooting toward the sky from the official movie poster of the new Godzilla movie, reminded me of the blue beam emitted from the explosion of Chernobyl disaster.

Indeed the terror of radiation and misinformation are much much worse than any disaster, simply because those can be invisible yet lethal, quiet but deadly .

這是一幅對中國著名作家王小波（1952年5月13日至1997年4月11日）的致敬，畫了他與妻子李銀河情深一對的特色化肖像。

畫以「愛你就像愛生命」為題，其名是一本收錄了王小波夫婦二十年間的書信集(2004)。真情流露於文字間，正是以愛去擁抱生命。

「愛你就像愛生命」一詞，原自於英國古典詩人拜倫的名詩「雅典的少女」：

「雅典的少女，在我們離別前，

還， 噢，還吾心於我！

或者，既然它已離我心房，

留著它吧，我其餘的也給予妳！

(2019) My life, I love you!

Here's a tribute to contemporary Chinese novelist Wang Xiaobo (May 13, 1952 – April 11, 1997), with a stylized portrait of him with his wife Li Yinhe.

The title of the art "My life, I love you!", is the name of a book by Wang and his wife, a collection of love letters between the couple.

Those straightforward but emotional words reveal their true feelings and truly prove that they embrace life with love.

"Ζωή μου, σᾶς ἀγαπῶ" (My life, I love you!) is a verse from "Maid of Athens, ere we part" (1801) by George Gordon Byron:

Maid of Athens, ere we part,

Give, oh, give me back my heart!

Or, since that has left my breast,

Keep it now, and take the rest!

Hear my vow before I go,

Ζωή μου, σᾶς ἀγαπῶ.

Continue to design an animal avatar for my sister and the Y.E.S. school she teaches.

The two candidates are an owl or a Taiwanese Barbet, a.k.a. the five color bird, and the school's theme is pretty much rain and farming, thus with the umbrella and the rice grain.

Cherry blossom and the sun rock are also included for a landmark reference.

"This is a tribute to the toughest animal on Earth, the Tardigrades.

I’ve found most 3D renditions of this lovely critter oddly solid and eyeless, so I’ve decided to present mine with a translucent body, including all the organs based on anatomical references.

The animation showcases the Cryptobiosis superpower of the little guy, which it can withstand low oxygen, high/low temperature, dehydration, high salinity/pressure, hard vacuum, and radiation."

動畫展示了小傢伙的隱生超能力，它可以承受低氧，忍受高/低溫，在脫水，高鹽度/高壓，真空和高輻射的極端環境下都能活下去。“
