Pretoria Old Motors Club was established in 1966. The first POMC - CARS in the PARK was held in 1980 at the POMC Club grounds in Keuning Street Silverton. Nine cars of POMC club members were displayed. From 1982, other clubs were also invited to display their vehicles. By 2005 more than 80 clubs displayed about 2000 vehicles and the POMC grounds became too small to accommodate any further growth. After investigation it was decided to move the event in 2006 to the Zwartkops Race Track.

Kalk Bay is home to the tiny but locally famous surf spot named "Kalk Bay Reef". This is renowned for heavy barrels and the associated shallow reef. It is best surfed on a big south-easterly swell or a north west wind. In smaller swells low tide makes for better barrels. Southern right whales come here during whale watching seasons, and are often seen playing or resting very close to surfers or piers.

……………¡Venga, venga, vamos!!!
03:00 AM: ¡Me despierto sobresaltado!!!……………….
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
…………..Come on, come on! They are going to be damaged! I totally cover them with plastic bags.
01:30 AM: I start to dry and clean the cameras and prepare them for…………..later.
02:30 AM: I remove the batteries (they are not totally charged, I am not able to take it anymore….). We turn off the boat engine. Finally, silence…..only the repetitive singing of hundreds, thousands of “undetermined bugs”.
I take an antihistamine, antiseptic on the leeches wounds (they do not stop bleeding), cream on the bites (it does not seem to be effective, but it’s Ok), analgesic to try calm my herniated lumbar disk and I lie a little on the wooden deck. –Where is the mosquito net? But……if it is broken!!! Well, nothing happens, I make a knot.
I fall asleep hypnotized by the incredible spectacle of the intermittent flash of hundreds and hundreds of fireflies that fly me over tirelessly………

White-faced whistling duck vocalizes frequently with distinctive high-pitched, multi-syllabic whistles which sound very unduck-like. Male and female calls differ slightly and may be a bonding mechanism. Its attractive appearance make it a popular bird in waterfowl collections. They are usually in flocks. They spend a lot of time sitting on the banks. Most foraging activity takes place at night; during the day the birds roost near the water, often in flocks of several hundred, and preen themselves and others. Whistling ducks are more arboreal than many other species of duck, spending part of the day perched on a branch. They are fast swimmers but do not dive except for food.
The common eland is the slowest antelope, with a peak speed of 40 kph that tires them quickly. However, they can maintain a 22 kph trot indefinitely. Elands are capable of jumping up to 2.5 m from a standing start when startled. The common eland's life expectancy is generally between 15 and 20 years. Eland herds are accompanied by a loud clicking sound that has been subject to considerable speculation. It is believed that the weight of the animal causes the two halves of its hooves to splay apart, and the clicking is the result of the hoof snapping together when the animal raises its leg. The sound carries some distance from a herd and may be a form of communication.

Warthogs use their tusks both for fighting off unwanted predators and other competing male warthogs, and the warthogs also use these tusks for digging in the dirt for grubs and insects. Warthogs have a diet that consists mainly of grass, fruit, berries, roots and insects but warthogs are also known to occasionally eat small mammals, birds and reptiles. The diet of the warthog however, depends on the season and what is growing and therefore available for the warthog to eat.
