"Come away with me in the night
Come away with me
And I will write you a song
Come away with me on a bus
Come away where they can't tempt us
With their lies
I want to walk with you
On a cloudy day
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high
So won't you try to come
Come away with me and we'll kiss
On a mountaintop
Come away with me
And I'll never stop loving you
And I want to wake up with the rain
Falling on a tin roof
While I'm safe there in your arms
So all I ask is for you
To come away with me in the night
Come away with me "

This morning there was a lot of wind and rain. Afterward, the sun came out and illuminated the fallen leaves in a puddle right outside my home. When I saw that, I thought of Joy Jordan's beautiful photographs of leaves, water and light and was inspired to go out with my camera. I can't match Joy's vision or inspiring words, but it was good to spend some time looking at the lovely light, colour and reflections. If you have not seen Joy's photos, you should have a look: www.flickr.com/photos/joyjordan/

Watched Diane Antone's water colour trees and painted along, so inspiring!
I then overlayed a second photo also a water colour mess. I can see how I'd it better next time. A bit of fun in the mean time :)

“I see you, beneath the surface. I see your untamable wild. I see your billowing heart. I see your unshed tears and your not yet dreams and your devotion to spirit. I see you howl at the moon and call the ocean home and ground to earth and grow taller than the trees.
I see you.
You are not alone. You are not invisible.
You are seen. You are seen. You are seen.
And my god, you are beautiful.”

No, nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Neither the good that made me
Nor evil, all that I care!
No, nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
It is paid, swept away, forgotten
I care about the past!
With my memories
I lit the fire
My sorrows, my pleasures
I no longer need them!
Swept the loves
And all their tremors
Swept away forever
I start from scratch
No, nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Neither the good that made me
Nor evil, all that I care!
No, nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Because my life, because my joys
Today, that begins with you

yay.. was so much fun exploring the redwood forests up in Eureka. the kids and i had a blast hunting for mushrooms. of course very inspired by Machel. and i haven't a clue what any of them are.. but might spend a little time trying to id them with some books.
but i have to say.. they are hard to photograph... so dark in the forest and so low to the ground. much respect for Machel.. your stuff is awesome.. these don't compare. :)
anywho.. more in the comments... and if you know what any of these are... lemme know !

Kawaii creatures inspired by Piccandle's book Kawaii Doodles Art Class. Just a sketchbook doodle that turned out to be pretty fun. I photocopied the page and made it into a card that I gave to Mum for her birthday. She loved it. But of course she did :)
Happy Friday everyone!
I did try to repeat at my home a great shot of Kathy. I'm in debt with her for the inspiration.
This is the real shot, no manipulation.
Winner in contest Reflection on Italians.
Liz and I met at Bosham for Valda Bailey's exhibition at Bosham Gallery, which sadly closes at the end of this exhibition on Friday. They works will still be shown online, and they are looking to run exhibitions elsewhere, and attend large art fairs.
We were lucky enough to arrive just as the artist was about to speak about her hand-finishing of her multiple exposure images.
Afterwards, we had a wander, and were inspired to try multiple exposures again ourselves.

I have been looking at a lot of photographs by Ralph Gibson and by William Eggleston lately. Looking at the work of masters is both inspiring and distressing.

I dedicate this flower to a little newborn girl 2.600 miles away... Her name is Isabella...
She is very very special... You see, she's the granddaughter of Jan... I know that we all can touch her with our images... If the stars in the heavens can shine the light of love... Please let the stars surround this family with all my love and good wishes...

Today WAH are visiting Atget hommage
Not quite one of Atget's magnificent knockers but it's the only one I have.
Atget's photographs of door knockers are known for their economy and intelligence, mine is probably not, and for capturing the details of the metalwork with a large-format bellows camera. I was all out of bellow cameras and had to rely on a Canon and Photoshop.
I should admit I knew very little of Atget's works until today.

Sail
Song by AWOLNATION
Sail
This is how I show my love
I made it in my mind because
Blame it on my ADD baby
This is how an angel dies
Blame it on my own sick pride
Blame it on my ADD baby
Sail, sail
Sail, sail, sail
Maybe I should cry for help
Maybe I should kill myself (myself)
Blame it on my ADD baby
Maybe I'm a different breed
Maybe I'm not listening
So blame it on my ADD baby
Sail, sail
Sail, sail, sail
La la la la la, la la la la la, ohh
La la la la la, la la la la la, ohh
La la la la la, la la la la

Bolan himself described the song's apparent religious references as this: Is a festival of life song. I relate 'Metal Guru' to all gods around. I believe in a god, but I have no religion. With 'Metal Guru', it's like someone special, it must be a godhead.

From the journal of Svōkka Jorison, Orcish Jarl of the Snjá-driv Mountains (translated from the Orc prose to the common tongue for the reader's understanding):
"I and eleven more had just returned from a successful raid and found that tragedy had struck: our homes and the great mead-hall Hospitality were wreathed in flame! Thinking to aid, we brought water forward- but this fire was of no natural start, nor mortal, and water and snow only disappeared in steam before our eyes. Then, seeing the cause, we dropped our loot and gripped tightly our arms; our trusty swords and axes! For a furious daemon stood in a cyclone of fire, black beyond the darkest night even as flames leapt from it's crown. We attacked, and oddly felt little heat even inches away, but upon contact with the fire, our bodies were as kindling... three then and one of his wounds did we lose, before we got the better of our senses and ran, forgetting honour for the sake of life.
Later, it was found that the village we had raided was blessed and protected by Loki, and when it fell, he sent one of his infernal champions to destroy us.
It seems to be gone for the moment, but I am sure it will not depart this plane until we rest in death..."
The rest of the parchment had been blackened beyond recognition. What happened after is surely obvious...
