"Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart” (Kahlil Gibran)
Have a wonderful weekend! :)
Dirt (you know him as the bad B&W cat) lives about 5 houses away (in a townhouse complex) and is a troublemaker. He picks fights with almost everyone, including me. Shadow seems to be the only cat that Dirt is not interested in fighting.
Molly lives next door and is pretty aloof. She is usually nowhere in sight, but when she is, and if Mack needs to show the world how brave he is, she is the target of his threats.
Shadow is the new male Floridian transplant who moved into Molly's house and has pretty much been turned loose to fend for himself outside. He seems submissive around Ella, Jimmy and Mack but at random, inexplicable moments will suddenly ambush one of them which keeps them, and me, aware of his whereabouts and behavior all times. He is incredibly sweet and non-threatening, except when he isn't, and is (did you follow that). Shadow finds Dirt very offensive and will track and stalk Dirt whenever he sees him. I have broken up several tense moments between these two with my squirt bottle because I don't want Shadow (a lightweight, 9 year old) getting hurt.
Ella never ventures more than 20 feet from the front door and never completely relaxes when outside. She never initiates an interaction with another cat and wont go anywhere near Molly or Dirt. She does, however, let Shadow get, and stay, close but hisses at any perceived threat from him, real or not.
Jimmy has been badly hurt by Dirt and so used to spend almost the entire time he was outside staring at Dirt's favorite bushes just in case Dirt suddenly appeared. He doesn't plan on being surprised by Dirt a second time. He also sprays every bush in the quad just so Dirt will know who is boss (yeah right). Shadow's presence complicates Jimmy's surveillance. He now has Shadow to contend with too. Jimmy and Shadow were doing a fantastic job relaxing in close proximity to each other, curious at first, but ultimately unthreatened and uninterested in each other. And then Shadow attacked Jimmy from behind, completely unprovoked. Now, whenever Jimmy is outside and sees Shadow, which is all the time since Shadow sticks to me like Velcro and I only let my cats out when I'm outside too, he runs away. Jimmy has also decided that spraying the outside world is not enough so he now sprays all over the inside of the house too.
Mack was also ambushed by Dirt once and so hates him and spends lots of time looking for Dirt so he knows which area to avoid. He has also never trusted Shadow, even when Shadow is being completely submissive - which is almost all the time. Mack feels it necessary to hiss at Shadow every time he sees him and in order to show his bad-guy toughness, hisses and growls at Molly if she's around. Mack has also decided he doesn't like the entire house smelling like Jimmy's urine so he also now sprays all over the inside of the house.
Whew. Have I covered everyone? I love cats and I love animal behavior, but this current situation is definitely a case of "too much of a good thing". I'm sure things will calm down eventually, and once it gets cold, my cats won't want to spend as much time outside anyway but until then ...
BTW I think Dirt is a great name for a cat. Wish I had thought of it.
View Albertsons Hawthorne Plaza Mall located on Hawthorne Boulevard on the proprety of the former Hawthorne Plaza mall. Closing Sale inside decor
The mall is abandoned, except of the former Montgomery Wards Hawthorne Department Store building, which was converted to offices for Los Angeles County. Also operating on the site is a traditional shopping center which contained an Albertsons Sav On Combination Supermarket.
The abandoned mall is located on Hawthorne Boulevard in Hawthorne California: Hawthorne Plaza Mall, opened around 1977, which contained The Broadway Department Store, Montgomery Wards Department Store and J C Penney Department Store plus smaller retail stores. The Mall has sat abandoned and vacant for years with no solution in site.
Around the time the mall was in its decline/shutting down, a shopping center was built on the site, located on the corner of the property. This shopping center included an Albertsons Sav On Combination Drug Store with a small shopping center attached. Including Starbucks. The Albertsons was originally going to be a Lucky Supermarket, however in 1999 Albertsons Supermarkets took over the Lucky Supermarket Chain, and converted all of their stores to Albertsons. This location was in the process of being built at the time of the merger, therefore all of its interior and exterior was for Luckys, however it was branded as an Albertsons upon its opening. It was never remodeled, other than some minor cosmetic changes: paint and signs.
Seasonally there is also a Fourth of July TNT Fireworks Stand in the parking lot.
The retail shopping center is operational as well the former Montgomery Wards building, which are now used as offices for Los Angeles County.
Thanks for everything again, people! You're great and always made my day! :D
I still have no time, sorry :(
Have a lovely week! (:

Narayanganj, Bangladesh, 2011.
There is an enormous world inside every human being...
A world bigger than the universe we imagine.
...This earth is nothing but a matrix where all the individual worlds interact.
The person seen above introduced himself as Rajendra. He is a saint. Homeless. Most of time he spends in meditation. I meet him at Narayangong district of Bangladesh on the occasion of annual Hindu ritual namely Mohastomi dip. On the discourse he told it took him eight hours by bus to join the festival. As I approached him to take a picture he agreed and interestingly he let me took as many pictures as I wished. Normally saints prefer solitude and they tend to avoid human gathering and much taking. But he was very friendly. He mentioned that at his age of thirty he left his home and joined some other saints in a local asroma and started his new journey of life. I asked if he ever regretted his decision. He shrugged and told he is on the path of GOD and added why should he regret when he is leading such a peaceful life.
Thanks Rajendra for being part of my project. I know you will never see this and never be able to know how much I enjoyed my time with you. May God bless you!

Smudge is 16-1/2 years young and has lived with me for about a decade now - really all of her life if you count her "feral" days on my patio. She's been completely deaf for 6 or 7 years now, and her once clear green eyes have become marbled with age. She still thinks the camera is going to steal her soul, so I have to grab quick shots as I can, even if the light is poor.
Smudge scratched me a few times when she was young and frightened and then we called a truce. But one day she disappeared - I searched the woods behind my home to no avail. Then three days later she tumbled down the hill behind my house, unable to take two steps without falling down. Her diagnosis was Feline Vestibular Syndrome, a virus (they think) of unknown origin. So I put her in my garage and hand fed her for two weeks because she would fall down and then not eat. We waited it out until one day she was able to weave the length of the garage without falling. Then I brought her inside and watched for several more weeks as she slowly improved and the mysterious virus left her with a head tilt and deaf in one ear. Somewhere along the way she had to have all her top teeth removed. She has rewarded me with purring the minute I touch her, and keeping my feet warm every night. Don't ever tell me that animals don't understand kindness even if it wears a disguise sometimes.

In my mind I saw this photo of them heads close, looking at the camera. Kinda like the photo below position wise that I took 3 years ago. They, on the other hand would not sit still. I kinda like it even more.

The MACBA, designed by American architect Richard Meier, has a longitudinal floor plan with a 120 x 35 m base, in which a circular piece that serves to articulate exhibition space, is vertically inserted, passing through all four floors.
Richard Meier’s architecture is clearly based on rationalism and alludes to the masters of Modern Architecture, particularly Le Corbusier, by combining straight and curved lines to establish a dialogue between interior space and exterior illumination which filters into the galleries through large skylights.
Every floor of the MACBA is bathed in natural light, as Meier uses it to both define and generate space. To make this possible, Meier separated some of the supports from the façade. This same concept determines the atrium space, which is designed as a vertical gallery, parallel to the main façade, which filters and distributes light into the different parts of the building while communicating interior and exterior space through ramps that allow access to all floors and a hall which leads the visitor to the galleries.

An all-auto 35mm compact from Olympus in 1986 - supposedly the first all-weatherproof model. A.k.a Infinity in the U.S.
A bit shabby, but with just about enough power in the PR-P2 battery to be working, and worth the 50p it cost.
The photo is an exercise in minimal preparation - put the subject down, focus and press the release; could be better.
