Mary Ann (Werre) Lehr
Mary Ann (Werre) Lehr donated lace samples most of which were made by her mother Emelia (Zimmerman) Werre. Crocheted samples are done in cotton thread, with one in wool yarn. Present are three types of purchased lace. Represented are edgings, insert lace and motifs. A few items were cut from household linens or clothing or represent unfinished items such as towel/ pillowcase edgings, a doily, collar, pincushion with thimble holder and petticoat yoke. One sample was crocheted directly onto fabric. Most pieces are white with some in ecru, brown, purple, yellow, blue, dark red or pink.
Donor added, “These are the samples my mom would copy – so she, in time, would be able [to make] pillow case edges or scarves.”

One hot day, broken up by one huge storm which filled the water butt up from completely empty to overflowing in less than 15 minutes.
Once the rain stopped I went outside with Teasel and saw a fork of lightning touch down somewhere a few hundred yards away. The almost immediate thunder crack was so loud that it made me jump about a foot in the air, and well... you've never seen a dog run so fast!
