If you want to support my photography I got rainforest wildlife prints available at www.primalshutter.com/Prints-frames/Rainforest-Selection/

Although I see invertebrate activity all year due to my temperate location - there has been a riot of mating frenzies this past couple of days. Perhaps triggered by the higher than average humidity, heat and thunderstorms.

Resting here on an aloe flower.

This fly couple were a tiny species, just 4 mm in length

Hover flies enjoying the love of their life

Acytolepis sp. Very similar to Acytolepis puspa. photographed in my backyard.

Rhagonycha fulva, the common red soldier beetle, also misleadingly known as the bloodsucker beetle, and popularly known in England as the hogweed bonking beetle.

A mating pair of small hoverflies (Diptera:Syrphidae)...

Took several shots until I got this one as they kept on flying around..

One random evening I was walking up to my room when I saw these two going at it on a scarf left at the top bannister of a somewhat narrow stairway. My natural inclination was to jump back in fear and shock and the sudden disruption led one of them, the female I (sexistly) presume, to jump away. It was only then that I realised what was happening as the other one, the male (sexist prejudice again), jumped along with it & was unwilling to let go of their connection. Much to my childish debauched humour, this happened a few more times with the female trying to escape while the male latched on. Since I use a manual (and SLOW) hacked 3580macro lens, and these are the teeny tiny moths you get in London/houses, I thought I had lost the wonderful opportunity to capture them in action. An hour later, much to my surprise, they were still at it & so I decided to try my luck again & quickly capture this before the female had finally had enough :D

As a fish biologist I say: ID help please! Negros Oriental, Philippines.

I'm on youTube too with lots of underwater videos.

They flock together probably feeding on a prey.

A love so intense that it justifies the rest of our days...

Here is the first stage of the life of the damselflies. Here the male and female cooperate on the wing to lay eggs.

The one on the top is male Coromandel Marsh Dart (Ceriagrion coromandelianum), which has yellow abdominal segments. The one in the bottom is female Coramandel Marsh Dart has pale green color in her abdomen.

The male on top has its oviposter fixed to the female's cephalo-thoracic joint. The female lands on a best located leaf of an aquatic plant, bends her abdomen and plants her eggs under the leaf and ensures that eggs are submerged.

This mating pair of mango leaf hoppers was found on the underside of a leaf of jack fruit tree which was situated close to a mango tree.

When you're a lone bug in a big world, finding a partner of the same species and the opposite sex is not always that simple.

This was shot in Tajpur in coastal West Bengal during my weekend tour to this very serene, green, and virgin land of charming beauty.

Two copulating 'Amata annulata'
