Elkhart Co. Historical Museum seeks Public Input on Updates to Exhibits on Wed. March 3, 2016. Patrick McGuire, Curator of Collections greeted visitors to the Museum on the rescheduled date of Wednesday, March 2, 2016 for the free event that featured refreshments and door prizes from area Sponsors. The public was asked to provide the feedback about the museum as part of the “Rank the Exhibits,” Open House. Kelby Rose, Museum Manager commented that the Public plays a large role in what happens at the museum in telling the collective ongoing story of Elkhart County. He feels that the voice of the public should be heard in the future of exhibits and programming. The information will help guide the museum staff as they update and revitalize the museum. The museum fosters appreciation and preservation of local history and culture through exhibits, educational programs and an accessible library and archives. The museum houses approximately 30,000 items of historical significance. They are also home to the Elkhart County Genealogical Society and the Historical Library. The Museum reaches an audience of over 10,000 each year.
