No, it is the the Time and Tide Bell near Mablethorpe on the Lincolnshire Coast.. On this vast beach it can be seen for miles but the weather although warm had a featureless almost colourless sky due to haze caused by pollution. I did my best to inject a little more blue into the sky without changing the colour of the bell but its still a little blah..
Nevertheless here it is...I would love to get another photo of this sometime and the beach is beautiful and vast and if you bump into anyone its rare - although the foot prints show that it does have a regular stream of visitors. Two people walking the shoreline in this shot show the scale of this beach ( if you can make their tiny figures out )
It starts ringing as soon as the tide comes in and other bells like it have already been installed at six beaches across the country.
Time and Tide Bell is an art project made up of bells, designed by UK sculptor Marcus Vergette and Australian bell designer Neil McLachlan, installed at coastal locations in the UK. The first one was placed at Appledore, Devon, in 2009 and the seventh at Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire in June 2019
What's even real? It's not even about flesh or plastic anymore. Might as well tear it all away.

“People could look back in 100 years and identify the coronavirus epidemic as the moment when a new regime of surveillance took over, especially surveillance under the skin which I think is maybe the most important development of the 21st Century, is this ability to hack human beings."

This photo was taken from the top of one of the highest hills in Overijssel, The Netherlands. The view was absolutely surreal: all depth and verticality had vanished into dense fog. All that was left of the usual sprawling landscape were some enthusiastic shrubs with a few pines forming the backdrop. The lighting added to the surreal atmosphere, as the sun injected beautiful colours into the mist. It distinctly made me feel like part of a strange theatre or shadow play.

Normally, I don't have a lot of interest in hot rods, except for the occasional chrome, but this one, caught my eye. The Red Rule AND the Rule of Odds in one shot!!!

8x10 darkroom print
This is an experimental darkroom print from my "Aftermath" series. I am really happy that this print was purchased to be used in an album cover by a Japanese band Calme Adiction. Here is a link to where it appears calmeadiction.bandcamp.com/track/land-of-ulcer-live-ver
Also I'm really happy how the solarization turned out, it's a pretty hard darkroom technique.
Aftermath is a photography series I created during the pandemic, using a range of experimental techniques to explore the human condition in times of crisis. By employing methods such as film soup, developing color film with black-and-white chemistry, and innovative and alternative darkroom printing, I aimed to reflect the uncertainties and disruptions of the era. The work delves into themes of resilience, vulnerability, and the broader existential challenges posed by capitalism, offering a layered social commentary on our shared experiences during turbulent times.
Dolores, you had a golden voice, a world of yours that spoke to us all ... You died on Monday but you will remain forever in our heart ...

" To all the people doing lines
Don't do it, don't do it
Inject your soul with liberty
It's free, it's free
To all the kids with heroin eyes
Don't do it, don't do it
'Cause it's not, not what it seems
Oh no it's not, not what it seems
Salvation, Salvation, Salvation is free
Salvation, Salvation, Salvation is free
To all the parents with sleepless nights
Sleepless nights
Tie your kids home to their beds
Clean their heads
To all the kids with heroin eyes
Don't do it, don't do it
'Cause it's not, not what it seems
No no it's not, not what it seems
Salvation, Salvation, Salvation is free
Salvation, Salvation, Salvation is free ... "

All-in-all, this past week has been a bit rubbish, heartbreakingly traumatic funeral, follow-up hospital visit after surgery on my foot (thanks, chemo) and a healthy dose of poison via canula. I am grateful that this weird drug has been invented and that I'm able to have it, so many in the United Kingdom are denied this treatment because they're caught up in the post code lottery, but it's still tough having it. I am achy in my bones and really longing for a chilled glass of wine, but we don't have any in the house so it'll be a long longing...
I found this while picking tomatoes in our garden yesterday.
The female Braconid Wasps inject eggs into the caterpillar’s body, the larvae hatches and feeds inside the caterpillar until they mature then eat their way out through the caterpillar’s skin. Then they spin the cocoons and the adult wasps emerge later.

I injected some flowers with Agave Nectar to give this Honeybee a reason to let me get close. Even though this shot is cropped I kept the aspect ratio the same as the un-cropped image (2:3) and Photoshop Elements 2022 up-sampled it, so it is still a 32MP photo.
Tech Specs: Canon 90D (F11, 1/125, ISO 200) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to about 1.5x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT, E-TTL metering, -2/3 FEC. This is a single, cropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Denoise AI and Clarity in that order. Shutter and ISO set to expose the sky in the background.

The ghostly figure of one Falmouth's seafront shelters.
Heavy rain kept me from going our early in the morning, so I headed out with the camera at mid-day.
With uninspiring noon light, I tried using ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) to inject mood and mystery.
I've tried "straight shots" of this shelter in the past - conceding that I really need a lens with a slightly shorter focal length.
This might turn into a little project over the next couple of days - with the forecast weather not conducive to my usual kind of photography.

A friend was reading about Bifurcate Trashline Orbweavers, Allocyclosa bifurca. Research in Costa Rica says a wasp, Polysphincta gutfreundi, parasitizes them. Her question was, are those wasps also in South Texas? Anyone know? One was recorded in El Cielo, Tamaulipas so it seems likely.
A paper by Eberhard says, "Wasps of the Polysphincta clade are known to manipulate the behavior of their web-building spider hosts by injecting psychotropic chemicals,..."

Tehran city skyline by Chamran highway going under the metropolis along the 3km long Towhid tunnel, Iran.
Despite an apparent animosity, a significant number amongst the Iranian elite conceal big reverence and admiration for the United States and in fact encourage their children and national talents to study there, as opposed to, for example, learning from Chinese success stories. One of many unfortunate results of this is the disastrous urban planning models that get forcefully injected into Iranian cities: e.g. instead of efficient and cheap public transportation systems working like clockworks (as those doing wonders for first and second-tier Chinese cities), Iranian municipalities insist on exclusively building ever larger and multi-layered urban highways, centering their models on expanding the usable surface for individual vehicles, rather than investing on smart public transportation systems. A completely unsustainable and failing model as witnessed in most large US cities. Meanwhile, the metro and bus systems tend to lag demand and/or the times by 5-10 and 10-20 years, respectively, at least in my personal observations.
My hope is more amongst the Iranian elite can give up their (often racial-based) prejudices and see through the negative propaganda against China, so they can get themselves to learn from systems that effectively turn cars into totally optional items.

Technique: I injected artificial nectar into a Lavender flower and when the honeybee started feeding on it I grabbed onto the stem of the lavender flower with my left hand, and then rested the lens on that same hand to help keep the scene steady. Then we played a game where I'd frame and compose the scene only for her to move at the last second ;)
Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 200 with highlight tone priority) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (over 2x) + a diffused MT-24EX (both flash heads on the Canon flash mount, E-TTL metering with -1 1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. Image taken in 2016 but I'm just now getting around to processing it.
