CAMP COURTNEY, OKINAWA, Japan – Maj. Jason R. Shockey stands at the position of attention during an awards ceremony Oct. 31 on Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan. During the ceremony Shockey received the prestigious Copernicus award for his efforts which included creating a more combat ready regiment, improving information technology systems, and creating an effective business impact analysis system within the 12th Marine Regiment. The award is highly competitive and draws potential winners from the Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard. “Working hard is the key to winning,” said Shockey, an operations officer with the 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. “It was very hard work but I enjoyed it and I am very pleased to win this award.” Shockey is from Petaluma, California. The modern pace of life and the development of information technologies are placing new demands on our house.
