The sculpture Tomorrow Man, made by the sea, was created by Catherine François. With the holes she wants to represent a destructive energy. The image is intended to erode under the influence of ebb and flow, wind, and rain. The bent figure, 2 m high and weighing 400 kg, braces itself against the rising water. And that is exactly what the symbolism in the sculpture shows: the struggle of humanity against nature.
This mural was made by GOMAD (Marcus Debie) during Urban Colour festival 2017 Arnhem. I'm surprised that the colors still look so fresh.

""GOMAD (Marcus Debie, 1972) is a colorblind Dutch artist, born and raised in the city of Sittard in the south of Holland where he still lives and works. Heavily influenced by the iconic film, ‘Beat Street’, as well as ‘Style Wars’, GOMAD got artistically active all the way back to the early 80’s in the Southern Dutch graff scene. So much so, that he’s considered one of the pioneers of the sport in that region.
Nowadays he works as an international ‘urban fine artist’ doing murals and paintings for exhibitions wherever his art brings him. GOMAD’s work is considered a pinnacle of post-neo-cubism, the combination of photorealistic images, often woman faces, eyes and birds in a mind bending surrealistic setup, against cubistic and organic shapes, in a Picasso-like composition, combining oil paint, acrylics and sprays in a vibrant and unique way.""

Jan Hus was a Czech church reformer executed in 1415. His teachings had a profound influence on the history of the Czech nation.
Jan Hus’s contribution to the development of the Czech literary language was the introduction of diacritical marks, such as: č, š, ř, ž, á, í, é. The purpose of this innovation was representing each sound by only one symbol and eleminating digraphs (sounds represented by two letters).
The inscription on the monument reads “Milujte se, pravdy každému přejte”, which means more or less: “Love one another, wish the truth to everyone”. This is a shortened version of a quote from one of Hus’s letters from prison. The day of his execution, July 6th, is a public holiday in Czechia (Jan Hus Day).

Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun, and the rotation of the Earth. Tide tables can be used for any given locale to find the predicted times and amplitude (or "tidal range"). The predictions are influenced by many factors including the alignment of the Sun and Moon, the phase and amplitude of the tide (pattern of tides in the deep ocean), the amphidromic systems of the oceans, and the shape of the coastline and near-shore bathymetry (see Timing). They are however only predictions, the actual time and height of the tide is affected by wind and atmospheric pressure. Many shorelines experience semi-diurnal tides—two nearly equal high and low tides each day. Other locations have a diurnal tide—one high and low tide each day. I had a very early morning meeting, the advantage of which is that I saw the sun come up -- albeit briefly. He has not once disappointed me in a performance. The opportunity in Toronto to see him in a small venue with about 100 people is perhaps the highlight of my life in terms of live music performances.... He played for almost three hours and we soaked up every little bit of it.
