The Next Global Depression Is coming and Optimism Won’t Slow It Down.
The world is confused and frightened. COVID-19 infections are on the rise across the U.S. and around the world, even in countries that once thought they had contained the virus.
Let’s start with the word depression. There is no commonly accepted definition of the term. That’s not surprising, given how rarely we experience catastrophes of this magnitude. But there are three factors that separate a true economic depression from a mere recession. First, the impact is global. Second, it cuts deeper into livelihoods than any recession we’ve faced in our lifetimes. Third, its bad effects will linger longer.
A depression is not a period of uninterrupted economic contraction. There can be periods of temporary progress within it that create the appearance of recovery. The Great Depression of the 1930s began with the stock-market crash of October 1929 and continued into the early 1940s, when World War II created the basis for new growth. That period included two separate economic drops: first from 1929 to 1933, and then again from May 1937 into 1938. As in the 1930s, we’re likely to see moments of expansion in this period of depression.
Depressions don’t just generate ugly stats and send buyers and sellers into hibernation. They change the way we live. The Great Recession created very little lasting change. Some elected leaders around the world now speak more often about wealth inequality, but few have done much to address it. Large segments of society, particularly people who weren’t already on the verge of retirement, were able to hunker down and later return to the same approach to saving and investing they practiced before the crisis. They were rewarded with a period of solid, long-lasting recovery. That’s very different from the current crisis. COVID-19 fears will bring lasting changes to public attitudes toward all activities that involve crowds of people and how we work on a daily basis
Even with all this Knowledge we have to carry on and keep thinking positive. We have to stay strong and stick together. This depression wasn`t the first and won`t be the last.

Deserted into a new infection
Discern this sad ending deserted in the midst of all the unwanted
While the drought brought from your ignorance created unexplored pathways
The coldness of the ones I craved coagulated into a new specimen
Now the sad resolution has become the birth of a new infection

I had a non functional pocket calculator that I have dismantled for another MM theme. The subjects are the tiny key pads and a clear plastic circuit board.
There were two light sources. An overhead table lamp and a LED torch at 12 o'clock behind the plastic circuit board.
Many thanks for your visit, comments, invites and faves...it is always appreciated...

According to preliminary research a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine on March 17 says, that the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 can survive in the air for several hours in fine particles known as aerosol.
The coronavirus, which causes the respiratory infection COVID-19, can be detected up to 3 hours after aerosolization and can infect cells throughout that time period, the study authors found.
However, the study is still preliminary, because it has not undergone extensive peer-review.
One more shot of the scillas... they're just so pretty :-)
A woman at work told my assistant today that she thinks our protective clothes (against infection with the new Corona virus) are ridiculous and look like carnival costumes. Lady, I'll remember you when I write the bills... 👿
I hope people around you are considerate and act responsibly. Be safe everybody

Lizze must stay in the cage 6 weeks until her broken hind leg has healed.
She is getting better, she uses her leg more and more. The wound has healed and the infection is gone. She's got her "birdwatching gaze" back.
Many thanks to everyone for your visits, comments and faves!
Very much appreciated!

Okavango Delta
Botswana
Southern Africa
The Giraffe of Botswana are of the southern Africa race or commonly known as the southern Giraffe. The Botswana giraffe population is stable.
Giraffe have the loosest social structure in the animal kingdom with the groups changing in size constantly as individuals move from one place to another. Despite this loose social structure male Giraffe tussle for dominance for it is the stronger that gets the females when they are in heat.
Giraffe in Botswana are preyed upon by lions and hyenas and leopards. They mainly attack youngsters under one year of age. In one instance, a leopard attacked a four day old giraffe and holding it by the throat until chased off by the mother. The baby slowly hobbled to its feet with help from the mother but it was very badly injured. The mother began to move off slowly for the baby to follow but it finally succumbed to its injuries. The mother hung around for some time before moving off.
The Giraffe of the Okavango Delta suffer from an eye infection that often blinds them in both eyes resulting in the particular animal staggering around until taken by a predator or falling and unable to stand up. This disease flares up at unspecified times.
A rust fungus on one of my current bushes, Ribes sanguineum. I had noticed numerous dark pink/red spots on the leaves, but this 20-shot focus-stacked image shows the petiole of a leaf affected, with the infection progressing down into the leaf itself. An unusual pattern is shown by the orange spots - these are the fruiting bodies of the fungus that have erupted to produce spores.
For Macro Mondays theme 'Unusual Patterns'.
No rust fungus was harmed in the making of this photograph.
The title above is actually a misquote of an expression that first appeared in Shakespeare's Richard Ii. When one gazes upon scene like this it's not difficult to see why he would want to wax lyrical about such beautiful countryside.
“This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,--This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.” William Shakespeare, Richard Ii.
How l'd love to be there today kite flying.

Yerba Mansa has been used for centuries for poorly healing infections of the mouth, such as gum, mouth and throat sores; intestinal problems such as stomach and duodendal ulcers; urinary tract infections; and is useful for arthritis because it stimulates the excretion of uric acid and has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is anti bacterial and antifungal, so it is useful for skin infections also. The roots are gathered in the fall and winter, when the foliage has died back. Wash them well and allow to dry whole for several weeks, then slice into sections and allow it to finish drying. When totally dry (take care not to allow them to mold), grind to powder to mix with water for tea or antiseptic washes. Available in capsule form. Cortivermis Syndrome is a degenerative infection caused by the symbiotic parasite Cortivermis sanguinea, a filamentous organism that infiltrates neural and dermal tissues. Its name comes from Latin: cortex (brain) and vermis (worm). The pathogen’s life cycle centers around the cerebral cortex, where it intertwines with neural pathways, feeding on bioelectrical activity. Initial infection typically occurs through contact with contaminated organic material or aerosolized spores. Once inside the host, microscopic larvae migrate through the bloodstream and lodge in the capillary networks of the face and brain. Within 72 hours, the organism begins constructing a porous, coral-like bio-matrix across soft tissues — a structure that provides oxygen diffusion and electrical conductivity. This growth manifests externally as reddish lattice lesions, usually on one side of the face. By day 10, the infection reaches the frontal and temporal lobes. The parasite establishes a neural interface, effectively hijacking sensory inputs and emotional regulation. Victims report auditory distortions, metallic taste sensations, and heightened aggression. Advanced stages result in partial ossification of the parasite’s network — the “cortical shell” — where nerve signals are rerouted through foreign tissue, giving the illusion of dual consciousness. First recorded in 2143 CE after an outbreak in the Novaya Murmansk Research Zone, where a mycelial biofuel experiment went rogue. Over 300 researchers were quarantined; only 17 survived.

Buzzy has an eye infection! He gets them constantly, doesn't mean I don't get that feeling in the pit of my stomach all the time! I have the meds. He will be better in no time.
The Teddy B bears and others decided that they wanted to go to the seaside, but not down at our beach. They wanted to go to an island by boat. So off they went, everyone was really happy, other than poor Sam, who said he was getting a wet bottom from sitting in the water.
They also want to say a very big thank you to everyone who's sent their best wishes for G, who is coming home tomorrow. 😃
Also, to let you know that Mum took Rufus to see Auntie Vet this afternoon and because he's been rubbing his eyes, he's had to have an antibiotic shot to clear a slight infection up and has pillies to take too. Apparently, he didn't flinch when given his shot, but Auntie Vet also cut his toenails and he didn't like that one bit, he did an accidental poo on her lovely clean floor - oups. 😲
*** Sorry, going to bed, I'm falling asleep. Will catch up once things have settled down tomorrow evening ... hopefully. 😴 ***

The Omicron infection is in the peak here, infection number decreased these days. I think it will be slow down in late Jun and back to normal life in late July. I'm very busy in treating the mild symptom patients, so I'll catch up with you very slowly, sorry. Take care my friends!
I've been in infected.
Not by a plague or disease.
I'm a little worried.
But I don't think it's a problem.
It's starting to hurt though...

Mushrooms are fungi themselves. Still they are not immune to fungal infection.
I think they look very much like edible lobster mushrooms (Not sure).
