This unique hand-painted diner was made from a vintage narrow gauge railroad coach.
Here is the description on the back of the postcard:
"The Chief Diner
2172 Main Ave., Durango, Colorado
Is known from Coast to Coast for its fine food and service -- This very unique Cafe, all hand painted by a famous Colored Artist, is made from one of the first Narrow Gauge Railroad Coaches to come over the D&RGWRR. It was used in the early eighties by Otto Mears on his once famous Rainbow Route from Silverton to Ironton, Colo. During the early days it was attacked by Indians and there were many arrow heads buried in the wood."
The Chief Diner was demolished to make way for a lighting store, Light Art of Durango.
No 10 - The Temple Dancing Girl - A bollywood couple dance the dance of love under a mughal styled glass dome, which also serves as a bird cage. An extinct Asiatic Cheetah with his Sanskrit name on his tail, guards a Lotus flower of enlightenment and 2 tiles - one a sandstone 12 petalled lotus of the Heart Chakra, and the other is a blue pottery tile from Jaipur. A garland of marigolds curves around a 19th century temple dancing girl (Devadasi) wearing jewellery of gold and rubies, with bells on her wrists and ankles, she curves her body around a pink archway. A doctor in bombay rolls a chapati shaped like a formula 1 race track, while an elephant follows 2 salwar kameez biker girls, who are in turn following a man in an Ambassador car. A visionary boy writes a poem which branches out into a cosmic eye and a swirling galaxy. Bells jingle and jangle.

Peacock Themed Wedding Decorations – A perfect theme for Indian Weddings
Summer is one long road trip for the décor team at Maz Events and this weekend took us to our favourite haunts Alrewas Hayes again! If you’ve been following our blogs, the one thing you will realise is the wide variety of décor that we offer! We want every wedding to be different! We don’t just want our weddings to look like wallpaper! We want all our events to be noticed! So this week – we bring you images from our #PeacockThemed wedding @AlrewasHayes.
Our bride Palvi Kenth wanted an understated simple #IndianTheme for her wedding. Her Colours were all things peacock; lime green greens, fuscia, royal blue, teal, golds and purples. With this combination of colours; a stunning Peacock Themed mandap and #PeacockThemedReception was the most fitting tribute to create the magic and wow at this beautiful country venue. Our #PeacockMandap which is a #goldmandap was offset with shades of purples and pink flowers, the mandap was draped in royal peacock colours. The draped Peacock Mandap stood proud in the room and was the perfect centre stage for a traditional indian wedding ceremony.
The wedding reception followed a similar theme – #PeacockThemedBackdrop, stunning floral peacock table centres, an archway with a beautiful #floralpeacock, a glittered #LoveTable. What a fitting theme for a bride who wanted understated, classic, elegance. We LOOOVE working on all our customer’s projects; this wedding had all the elements that make a perfect wedding; our favourite venue Alrewas Hayes, an amazing bride, a stunning classical indian theme and a glorious summers day! Could life be any more perfect in the events world? We wait and see as we hit the rollercoaster month of August!
