They are our friendly neighbourhood often visit our backyard and breeds around.

Normally they are very cool but this time our dog disturbed her and she was in alert. The photo was taken at distance around 4 ft (here she in respect not the gender)

We have three types of snakes visiting in our backyard - Cobra, Rat Snake & the Green Vine Snake.

They are more comfortable with my wife than me.

 

WONDERFUL FACTS - The Indian Cobra (Naja naja) - also known as the Spectacled Cobra, Asian Cobra, or Binocellate Cobra - is a species of the genus Naja found in the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan, and a member of the "big four" species.

This snake is revered in Indian mythology and culture.

It is now protected in India under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act (1972). (wikipedia)

 

There are 270 different types of Cobras and their relatives, including Taipans, Adders, Mambas, and many sea snakes including Kraits, and they all have short fangs and they are very innocent :-)

Trivia -

Also called Whistling dogs for their distinctive whistle, used to stay in contact with their pack members. Listed as Endangered, they are spread over the Indian subcontinent, upto Korea and China and down till Indonesia.

Ranked among the top predators of the forest, these unassuming canids hunting in packs have a better kill rate than the famed Lions, Tigers and Leopards.

The hunt is usually a gory affair as the pack tends to rip off chunks from the prey while it is still alive.

A stately elegant bird, the Sarus Crane is considered as Vulnerable as per the IUCN Red List.

Their surviving population is said to be 19000 - 21800 individuals. Monogamous by nature, pairs are known to mate for life.

Seemed like happy hours at the watering hole as the adults had their drink, the little one though, was more interested in watching us.

Listed as as vulnerable in the IUCN list. Capped Langurs are found in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Myanmar.

A major constituent of the Tiger's diet, Nilgai is the largest antelope in Asia. Males average 1–1.5 m at the shoulder, and weigh 109 - 288 kg (240 - 635 lb), females being slightly smaller average 100 - 213 kg (220 - 470 lb).

Surely one bird that I was super excited when I saw the result. its not that I have not seen in the past or made images in the past but its the satisfaction of a frame that I felt is worthy to have !!!

Trivia -

Weighing upto 1200kg (2600 pounds), they are among the heaviest of all bovids - ranking second only to the mighty Gaur (Indian Bison).

Their horns spread up to 2m (79 inches), exceeding in size the horns of any other living bovid.

Generally peaceful, but males can get aggressive during mating season and females, if they perceive any threat to their calves.
