This little lovely is one of four Carolina wrens that have been gifted my yard as their territory by their parents. As usual, the parents raised several broods in the yard this year. Once the last brood was old enough to be independent, the parents moved on.
These little wrens are more friendly than their parents were, they come very close to me when I am in the yard and they allow me to approach them as well. If it ends up that there are two pair, perhaps both pair will nest in the yard. That has happened before. They chose different sides of the house of course, still it was nice to have so many year-round and all of the extra activity during nesting season.

It was only after I got home and examined this image that I realized there was no interconnection among any of the photographed people. A reflection of today's society.

The steamer Kinsman Independent still a coal burner is downbound leaving the locks in Soo harbor. Carrying most likely a load of grain out of Superior, Wisconsin or Duluth heading for Buffalo her usual route on June 26, 1980. Originally the Richard V. Lindaberry of the United States Steel fleet, she ran thru the 1987 season and was sold for scrap in 1988.

▶ After a nine-year residency, this was the distillery's penultimate weekend in its original small warehouse. Over the following four months, Mr. Anderson moved Independent's equipment and barrel-stock of aging whiskey and spirits a few blogs west to larger digs, reopening there in late January 2023.

Beatrice the Bookstore owner pops out from behind a pile of books to greet a customer. Today is "Independent Bookstore Day" here in the US, so Beatrice's store is going to be very busy :-)
This was a small independent roadside pit-stop for weary highway travelers on old US-59. I think this place was around when the state initially widened 59 from a two-lane highway to a four-lane divided highway way back in the 1970s. It appeared to be out of business and abandoned when this pic was taken. It was not affiliated at all with the Denny's national chain of restaurants. Any corrections or additional info concerning the history of Denney's would be greatly appreciated.

Threw this together last night. It may look cool, but it's flawed. With how wide those wheels come out, this is more of a 6-wide and a TT. on top of that I'm sure someone else has devised a better way of replicating independant wheels on a TT than this. Hell, someone may have already discovered this method and I just don't know. But I like this so whatever.
