Betsy Ross made the first U.S. flag to fly with 13 Stars representing the 13 Colonies Congress declaring their Independence. The American U.S. Flag has 50 Stars with
Hawaii joining the U.S. on August of 1959.

Scary on large... View On Black
We all remember a few dominant rainstorms, this one I will never forget. While in Ottawa, at the Delta Hotel on August 18/08 the clouds slowly rolled in almost touching the building tops. The sky literally went black save the sunlight spilling in from afar, the entire scene reminded me of the that huge space ship moving over the city in the movie Independence Day. If you have seen that movie you know exactly what I mean.
Anyway the rain came down in sheets and within minutes the clouds were gone.......yesterdays image with the fisheye was taken minutes after the rain quit.
The Washington Memorial in brilliant light made to contrast against the sky. In what has been has been a monumental few months for American politics it is hoped that this monument is darkened by its country's politics.

After a couple days of off and on rain - sometimes really heavy, the sky cleared up enough to watch a firework display from a distance. The sky was quite beautiful and dramatic as the sun set.
