"The path isn't a straight line; it's a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths." Barry H. Gillespie.

After several hours contemplating some of the most incredible masterpieces in the world, the visit of the Vatican Museums ends with the exit of the building by stairs that are art by themselves. Although commonly known as the Bramante Stairs, its construction took place centuries after the death of the Renaissance master, when in 1932 Pope Pius XI commissioned Giuseppe Momo with the architectural transformation of some areas of Vatican City. This Italian architect was inspired by the original staircase built by Bramante in 1505 to connect the Belvedere Palace with the outside, which is currently closed to the public, except for a few special visits.

The main reason that gave rise to the construction of double helix staircases was to allow the ascent and descent through differentiated spaces, in order to avoid the interruption of traffic through them. Although nowadays, visitors are only allowed to go down one way, while the other remains closed, on this occasion, there were also restorers working in the part that is usually closed. So taking the photos that allowed me to create this image took a long time and a lot of patience, until I got enough shots that I was able to mix later to eliminate all the people. Of course, I did not use a tripod, so aligning the images has been essential and not very easy. However, once again, all the work and effort has been worth it when I have seen the final photograph reflecting the beauty of such a unique space.

The vale is an extent of lower-lying ground separating the chalk downs of Salisbury Plain to the south from the Marlborough Downs to the north.

An incredible masterpiece placed in Forte Belvedere, Florence, in occasion of #Ytalia , a contemporary art exhibition. A very big skeleton is "sleeping" in the garden and it's possible to see the Duomo di Firenze on the background!

The Mosaics at the Domus Romana museum are really world class and hold their own with those preserved in Pompei. I was taken by the amazing 3D effect on this example. I want one!

"I'm crossing the line!

And I'm done holding back

So look out, clear the track

It's my turn!

I'm taking what's mine!

Every drop, every smidge

If I'm burning a bridge

Let it burn

But I'm crossing the line!"

This is a tribute to one very interesting character from the show I never watched - Cassandra from "Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure" TV series - a lady-in-waiting, royal guard, Rapunzel's best friend and worse enemy, Gothel's daughter.

(don't worry, I listened OST, watched all her major scenes and theories video on YouTube, and carefully read her long page in Disney wiki)

The reasons are simple - I listened her songs from the show ("Waiting in the Wings", "Crossing the Line" and "Nothing Left to Lose"), and guess what? THEY'RE AMAZING!!! I have no idea something so cool and worthy of a feature film can pop up in a Disney's TV! And Eden Espinosa is a wonderful singer and voice actress!

So I decided I need to do something to capture the character's crowning moment of awesome, so I build a huge (4500+ pieces) set and drew my own patterns for Cass. This is a final seconds of "Crossing the Line" scene, in which Cass takes the power of the Moonstone for herself to fulfill her destiny. Justified, considered how she felt during "Waiting in the Wings", not to mention tragic truth about her past she recently discovered...

But of course, there's much more in her, then just the story - Cass have a really interesting, not one-dimensional personality with inner conflicts and struggles. And a pet owl named Owl. xD

"Waiting in the Wings" song/scene - if you haven't watched the show too, start with it BEFORE "Crossing the Line", because both songs are connected, and this is extremely important for understanding! Also check a reprise for the same reason.

"Crossing the Line" song/scene - this is an incredible masterpiece, which gives me the vibes of my favorite "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked". So powerful, so great, so badass and so deep (especially considering the full lyrics version which was cut due to time constraints, but, fortunately, there are talented people making covers on YouTube).

"Nothing Left to Lose" song/scene - also great song, especially Cass' part.

Also please check my second tribute to Cass, in which you can see her better. ;)

firstly thank you to rachel for clicking the shutter on my camera for me!

i didn't think i had gotten a decent shot out of this at first, but when looking through them again i found this and decided i quite liked the awkwardness and stiffness of the pose, and the bird-like position of the arms and fabric.

i was going to make this very painterly and add lots of texture, but in the end i think i preferred i the simpler and more refined take on editing it.

p.s. i think i am going to try and take a more modern and possibly more conceptual picture soon, as i have always really wanted to, but just never thought that it would work out well. but after seeing brooke shaden's latest incredible masterpiece i have been left utterly inspired and in want of a serious injection of that style!!

A Good Friday and a happy Easter weekend to all my Christian friends.

One does not have to be a Christian or religious to enjoy the Pietà, perhaps the greatest sculpture ever by Michaelangelo. Even images of the Pietà are so deeply moving, that it is hard to walk away from it when you are physically there, standing right in front of it! An incredible masterpiece.
