Just another shot from 2013 ...color version here: Facebook

This little fella scared the nuts off us while heading home from some west end shopping.

If I were doing a 13 secrets series, my number 5 would be that I'm mortally afraid of anthropomorphic animals. (and no.4 would be spiders!)

An activist on Lambeth Bridge concerned over the possible consequences from catastrophic climate change.

Never has the issue of climate change been more urgent. The most recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report, published on 4 April 2022, stated that drastic action was needed immediately in order to prevent a climate catastrophe that would mean millions becoming refugees and millions more suffering from malnutrition and famine.

This would require an immediate halt to any investment in or expansion of fossil fuel production. However, despite the stark warning, the UK government is determined to continue investment in North Sea oil and gas, seemingly dedicated to accelerating climate change..

Professor Jim Skea, co-chair of the working group at the IPCC responsible for determining the best measures for mitigating climate change, declared "It's now or never, if we want to limit global warming to 1.5C. Without immediate and deep emissions reductions across all sectors, it will be impossible.'

Realising that years of petitioning and protests had failed to persuade the British government of the need for immediate and profound measures to reduce emissions, Extinction Rebellion decided to launch a week of direct action across Britain. In London, this started on the weekend of 9 and 10 April, with climate change activists marching through central London, for two days of protests which included sit down blockades of Vauxhall and Lambeth bridges. On Lambeth Bridge a group of doctors and nurses refused to leave and were arrested by the police.

According to the group website Doctorsforxr.com, 'Doctors for Extinction Rebellion is a doctors' collective who, appreciating that climate change is an impending public health catastrophe, have decided to undertake civil disobedience with Extinction Rebellion.

I'm scared to lose people I love.

I'm scared to choose the wrong way.

I'm scared to don't find a way out.

I'm scared to...

^That song is really great. It's got this creepy circus music...the whole song sounds very psychotic to me but I love it.

It's pretty obvious that you need to click here.

Anyway. Took forever to get this shot. Was having all sorts of problems. First my hair wouldn't cooperate, it kept drying too fast from the lamp I had 4 inches from my face, I wound up hairspraying it to my face so it would stay in that position. My skin is not happy with me. Then I couldn't find a memory card. So I would have to shoot 20 pictures, upload to the computer, take 20 more pictures, and on and on. THEN the internet wasn't working on the PC and I don't know anything about how wireless works so I didn't know what to do. I have to edit my pictures on the PC because I don't have Photoshop on my Mac, so I upload from the camera to the PC. Edit in Photoshop. Upload to Flickr. Check the image on my Mac to make sure it looks decent on both screens. Yes, I do this every day. But since the internet wasn't working, I had to transfer the image back to my camera after I was done editing and then upload to my computer and THEN upload to Flickr. This is getting really annoying. I wish PS would just install on my computer. I PAID FOR IT DAMMIT!

Anyway. That's it I guess. Tomorrow is HNT!

And guess who got sucked into 365days! :)

It has been massively raining for almost all day now ... and you guys know how I feel about rain. I hate it! I really hate it! I just don't feel comfortable, while outside is a huge storm! :/

I was stunned at the prices these were going for . . . I owned lots in the areas and thought I was going to be a millionaire, lol. Unfortunately, I held on to my vacant land as an asset to sell as needed, now I can't afford the taxes. Now, I realize that it's bad karma to hold onto a lot of vacant land, the land should be used.

Not overly happy with the orange tinge on my front guy but the light I used was the only one that didnt cause yuck reflections on his head. The ghost is glowie blue because I have the flash with a blue filter thingo stuck on it pointing straight down on his head. 10498 attempts and this is the only one i liked.

The Sharpie Show

“An exhibition by artists who utilize marking pens as part of their craft”

Opening Reception with Beats by DJ Phyz Ed and Live Printing by Two Rabbits:

Saturday, February 7th, 2009 from 6pm - 9pm

In the Graffiti subculture, practitioners are known as "writers" because graffiti is about writing your name on as many surfaces as possible. Although many writers elevate their art form to the level of creating huge and beautiful murals, they all began their journey as an artist by first learning to write and perfect their name. The Sharpie marker is often the first tool a writer acquires in his lifelong journey to hone his craft and in becoming an artist.

The Sharpie Show, an exhibition curated by renown graffiti artist Man One, featuring original pieces created using Sharpies by some of the best known graffiti artists in the country (and beyond). Aside from graffiti artists, work by tattoo artists and known illustrators; Lalo Alcaraz and Overton Loyd will be on display. From stylized hand signatures, to throw ups, piecebooks, stickers, and any other possible object that can be marked upon, this exhibit will demonstrate the level of creativity that can be achieved between an artist and his/her most basic tool - The Sharpie.

***Exhibit runs thru March 1st, 2009***

Man One is a Los Angeles based Latino urban graffiti artist whose professional career has spanned over 15 years with community projects, exhibitions, videos, festivals and corporate commissions worldwide. “Art keeps me alive and it helps me communicate globally about certain issues with massive amounts of people. Graffiti art is a legitimate expression in color, style and purpose. I find inspiration often when I can help the youth of America find a purpose in lieu of their damaging environments,” says Man One. Earlier today I made a comment on this photo. As per the request I decided to shoot my hand. I find myself both proud and embarrassed by my hands alternately. I work with my hands always whether on the computer, in the studio, or at the farm. I enjoy my work and am proud that my hands show it. On the other hand I sometimes find myself in situation where I may be judged by my hands, and seen as poor, dirty, or lowbrow, especially as a woman. No matter how often I wash them, I find dirt under my nails, and a random smear of paint. I long ago gave up polish because it chips within a day. I am usually sporting a band aid, and have many scars. Not to mention I pen notes on my palms, and forget they are there. So there you have it, my hand. An honest self portrait with no enhancements. So, if we ever meet, remember when you go to shake my hand ;-)

As if there wasn't enough to read here, i just remembered and had to add...

Last night when I was driving home this song came on the radio and brought me instantly to tears. I thought i must make a photo for this, and then went home, went to bed, got up, and forgot till just a moment ago! It was the Jack Johnson/Ben Harper version, but this one is just fine!

I can change the world

With my own two hands

Make a better place

With my own two hands

Make a kinder place

With my own two hands

With my own

With my own two hands

I can make peace on earth

With my own two hands

I can clean up the earth

With my own two hands

I can reach out to you

With my own two hands

With my own

With my own two hands

Im gonna make it a brighter place

Im gonna make it a safer place

Im gonna help the human race

With my own

With my own two hands

I can hold you

With my own two hands

I can comfort you

With my own two hands

But you got to use

Use your own two hands

Use your own

Use your own two hands

With our own

With our own two hands

With my own

With my own two hands

today is my eighteenth birthday. i'm legal, i'm scared, i'm nostalgic. birthdays always freak me out. today, i'd like nothing more than to go back to being five years old, fall asleep in my momma's rocking chair and have her carry me to bed.

woke up with nerves because of work and since it's the last day of summer. I went to the studio, helped crop edits, and observed more senior portraits with my mentor and there is still so much to absorb. stuck in a rut still, i asked my mentor if a 50mm f/1.4 lens is the best lens, quickly he said no and told me to try to work with what i have before going and buying a new expensive lens until i really can't do much more with the lens i have. well, at this point I can't do more withh the lens i have. So, I'm still going to continue to save for that 50mm f1.4....i used a zoom lens for this, the bokeh isn't any better so. i am exhausted, my blog wouldn't upload the other morning or last night, (effing blogspot...you suck right now honestly) I awkwardly typed these in word because i like typing about my day before the day is actually "yesterday" or whatnot. Blah blah, ill be in classes tomorrow and it will be a tiresome day, i just know it. i start my day with bio (yuck), My photo class doesn't start until next week :P I'm just going to go be pissed at my sony viao for sucking and not having internet, and being pissed at blospot, and watch everwood. oh wait, of course my everwood dvd's dont work either a;fmdf;msdklfs bye summer. stupid outtakes because i suck at photos all over again.

I'll be honest . . . this scares the shit out of me.

I dunno what it's all about, it just kind of evolved. I don't know if it's any good, because getting in too close reveals some fairly dodgy editing.

Somedays you just gotta roll with it and say . . . what the f**k?

What started out as a calm peaceful morning in the swamp soon turned into a fight for my life as I found myself facing the most hideous creature I've ever seen, the Fakahatchee Tree-dwelling Tarantula!! Upon spotting it, I became so paralyzed with fear I'm surprised I even managed to press the shutter.

Day 192 of 365 days (2nd year)

I'm a Flexographic Printing Press Operator, which basically means I make stickers for a living. I've been running a press for about 5 years now. The press that I currently run is one of the oldest, most worn down presses in the shop. The work we run on my press is childs play. It's just really easy work.

Yesterday, while I was out fishing, I got a call from work. One of the operators of the "Big Press" is quitting, and they want me to fill his position. This new press that I'm going to is freaking huge! The press I run now is tiny compared to this thing. By comparison, it's like a tricycle to an 18 wheeler. I don't get any extra money up front, but that's not as important as the fact that this will increase my value in the printing industry significantly. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. They run a lot of high quality, very important work on the press I'm going to. I'm going to have to step up my game, so to speak. But, I'm ready for the challenge! This is some exciting shit for me. I'm still in complete shock!

this has got to be one of the scariest rides in dca! ride in the front right seat if you dont believe me!
