Layers Of Magic Layered Over Layers Of Miracles Across Layers Of Imagination - IMRAN™

(My 86th photo in Flickr Explore!) This mid-summer late afternoon scene at Tampa Bay was unfolding at Apollo Beach in Florida when I happened to look out the window. The sun was just starting to reveal itself under layers of clouds which were under layers of clouds that were in front of other layers of clouds in the distance. The steamy haze rising above the warm waters made for another surreal double vision double horizon effect more reminiscent of images of sunsets in the African wild. You have to see the image on a large screen to see the many birds flying in the distance. This more than 8100x5400 pixel image of 210MB will be rendered into some ridiculously low-resolution version on social media like FaceBook. The full-size version could not be uploaded on Flickr either so I will have to resize it even for posting there.

Hope Inspiring Resplendent Roses & Blossoms At Blessed Home Long Island, New York, Day Before My Birthday 2012 - IMRAN®

A dozen years ago before I penned these words in 2024, the rose bushes at my blessed home on Long Island, New York, were in full, glorious bloom. It was the early summer of 2012, the day before my 50th birthday.

The tornadoes and droughts of total economic meltdown, brought on by the policies of Republican President George W. Bush which enriched the super-wealthy with one trillion dollars of tax cuts, had wreaked havoc on my life as on millions of ordinary individuals, families, and entire towns. The next few years were spent on surviving, recovering, and rebuilding. Even then it was a rocky road.

By the time 2012 rolled in, after a labyrinthine journey of heart-sinking troughs, fleeting peaks, and unexpected drops into new valleys, life began to hint at a promising change ahead. I had to remind myself that life’s most exquisite blooms often come accompanied by the piercing thorns of reality.

The key is to persistently tend to one’s garden of dreams, rooting it in unshakeable faith, nurturing it with the water of hope, showering it with the rain of love, fortifying it with the grains of gratitude, and ceaselessly illuminating it with the lights of confidence, and perseverance.

No matter the adversities you face, remember, they are but temporary. You possess the strength to surmount them. Never let go of your dreams. Never relinquish your authentic self. Within you lies an indomitable spirit. You are capable of blooming despite the thorns. Are you ready to live the life you dream of?

Sedated K2 Chilling Watching Another Dog At Veterinarian Office - IMRAN®

K2 was given some tablets overnight and in the morning so he’d be chill and more cooperative in having X-rays taken without resisting the physical manipulation needed. He was plopped on the couch but still actively watching another dog across the waiting room.

Stunning Sunset.... Afternoon (Dusk) De/Light(ning) Tampa Bay ... At 2 PM? - IMRAN™

What a surreal stunning seaside sunset scene I’m witnessing right now. There’s an actual roll of thunder lasting 15-seconds shaking the house, while supremely serene Tampa Bay waters hardly have a ripple on them past my dock. There is complete cloud cover all around blanketing the sky and horizon in grey. Yet to the south the clouds are layered mysteriously enough to create the colors of sunset and shades of dusk although it is not even 3pm. And right next to it are some lightning flashes. What an absolutely unusual beautiful afternoon de/light(ning).

Red Hot Sunset & Cold Blue Sea In Harmony At Tampa Bay Florida - IMRAN™

As Saturday evening was drawing to a close, my Nikon D850 was silently laboring away at creating one of the most fabulous time-lapses I have ever turned into a music video. You will love the 60 seconds experience of a lifetime at www.flickr.com/photos/imrananwar/50528879933/ . I had the 13-years old Nikon D300 to take photos from the dock on Tampa Bay.

I saw several species and sizes of birds moving in and out of the frame as I captured this moment. I had wanted to get all the birds having their wings outstretched at the same time, but the sun was setting so fast I would have lost the moment completely. I got the pelican in the foreground skimming the blue tranquility of Tampa Bay waters, with another bird just slightly behind it. Three other birds can be seen silhouetted by the red hot sky as the golden dome of the sun slid under the horizon north of Saint Petersburg.

Happy New 1000 Light Years — IMRAN®

Every day, NASA and great scientists make us realize two things — the very dichotomies that we ourselves are the evidence of.

The data about the sizes and distances of these discoveries highlight how insignificant we are in the grand scale of things. (This photo is from an incredible but barely understood system “merely” 1000 light years away.)

Seeing how even the known Universe has absolutely zero need for any life to exist — much less for us humans to go about acting like masters of our domain — makes one pause. And that realization then also makes one gasp in amazement at how incredible our very existence is in the grand scheme of things.

We are, at once, infinitesimally small and infinitely privileged — a fleeting spark in a cosmos that neither notices nor requires us, yet somehow conscious enough to wonder, question, create, and seek meaning in the void. That paradox alone is a miracle worth honoring.

May we learn more about the Creator before it’s time to meet our Maker. May we make wiser use of the time we’re given, and create moments, memories, and meaning worthy of the gift of existence. Let’s make the best creative use of time and life.

Happy New 1000 Light Years.

All My (Birds Of A Feather Flock {Of Seagulls} Together} In A Row - IMRAN™

How many can you count? There are almost as many birds in this photo as there are bad puns in the title. I know they are not all my ducks in a row, but it was interesting to see this sight. A flock of seagulls, like the name of the music group, atop the roof as I looked at my blessed home when I was walking the dogs this Monday morning.

There will often be a bird or two around, but this was unique. One was perched at the center peak, while there were literally about 3 dozen others standing in a row on either side. Then I looked closer and noticed that there are two at the peak, both so identically positioned you almost see only one. But look closer and you can see the other one's tail too.

This is a panorama stitched from 3 handheld iPhone 11 Pro Max photos with NO editing to the colors at all. That is how powder blue the sky was at Tampa Bay, Florida today.

The stitching program created some errors where you can see the windows of the home are deformed. But the birds are the true (roof above my) head(in/one)liners of this photo story. Sorry, that one was hard to resist!

Car(s) & Driver: A Legends/ary Connection – Same Porsche Models 31 Years Apart – IMRAN®

These aren’t my cars, but I share an unexpectedly legendary connection to them. Read on, my friends…

I’ve always loved German cars, with Mercedes-Benz being my lifetime choice, followed closely by BMW and others. Porsche cars have long been admired worldwide, but they never quite made it onto my personal wish list. Maybe it was the cramped interior, or perhaps the bug-eyed look of earlier models.

Ferrari, followed by Lamborghini, would be my ultimate objects of desire. Yet in recent years, Porsche’s design language has evolved dramatically, and the newer shapes are undeniably beautiful.

My wonderful neighbor Steve is a true car aficionado, with a collection so extensive I haven’t even seen it all. Yesterday, he had two of his Porsches out. I snapped some photos as he drove one of them. To avoid casting my shadow on the car, I crouched low on the road—but I couldn’t escape the tall palm tree’s shadow stretching across the paint under the setting sun.

These two cars are the same Porsche model, but separated by 31 years of design evolution. Which one would you choose to drive?

The Porsche 911 debuted in 1963, just as I was turning one year old—meaning the car was being created and launched right when I was being born. Two legends, in their own ways, were being shaped at the same time (one only in his own mind, I hear you say!). Over six decades, the 911 has become one of the most iconic sports cars in history, blending timeless design with relentless innovation.

Its fame isn’t limited to the road. The 911 has starred in films like Against All Odds (with its unforgettable street race), Bad Boys (where a black 964 Turbo became a symbol of cool), Atomic Blonde (featuring a 964 Carrera 4), and even a Guards Red cameo in The Martian.

And as a personal homage, I can’t help but think of Robert Redford, an actor I deeply respect. In Spy Game—one of my favorite films—he drove a Porsche 912 that looked nearly identical to the 911. The movie even had scenes set in Pakistan, adding an ironic connection to my own roots. Redford’s understated elegance behind the wheel mirrored the Porsche’s timeless appeal, reinforcing why both man and machine became legends in their own right.

So, what brand, model, or design speaks to you most?
