Boeing 717-26R VH VQA belonging to Impulse Airlines, at Sydney, Kingsford Smith Mar 2001.
Resplendent in the Cockatoo livery it briefly appeared in from Feb 2001 to Aug 2001, when Impulse became a Qantas Link partner and subsequent re-painting into Link colours.
Designed for Polaroid's 600-series integral film, the Impulse models are similar in body design to the OneStep or Pronto! models released for SX-70 film in that they feature a non-folding plastic body, single-element plastic lens and fixed focus. The body is a hard-wearing plastic, and features rubber grips around the rear, a tripod-socket, flash-ready light and film counter. The flash is raised by pressing down onto the top of the unit; this also turns the camera on and retracts the lens cover.
Seen on the street near the spring Bellingham car show. Don't see these often!
I often wondered what these were like to drive, as they cut development cost by using the GM "T" platform (Chevette, I-Mark).

Inspired by Ce Roser's "Solar Talent"
18"x24" acrylic
I wanted to play off the vibrancy of "Solar Talent" and emulate the illusion that the painting was in fact a solar flare, pulsating, twisting, and curving with an incessant energy. In a lot of ways, such vibrancy resonates with that of my little cousin, depicted in my painting. Always smiling and always dancing, I can only hope that I was able to capture her spirit- in all it's radiant, truly "solar" ebullience- in this piece.
