Improving climate change reporting in the Mediterranean: Science – Media interface
Talk-Café: Stories about people life, what’s is behind 2º C
12nd November 2016
Marrakech (Morocco)
As the climate issue moves further into public policy, journalists will face new challenges in sorting out the political and economic interests of experts with a dizzying array of opinions about the costs and benefits of combating global warming. In an open and creative conversation, some journalists from AMAN and other media will explain, based on their experience, examples of good stories on climate change that got more public impact, as well as the challenges that they face with their chief-editors or public opinion to explain, the policy side of the debate (eg COP), the scientific dimension or the potential economic impact of climate actions.

Front of the Singer Improved family. This was the first year of production, and went on to become the Singer Model 15, which is still in production in various parts of the world. This is the early version that uses the long beak shuttle, as opposed to a bobbin case set in an oscillating hook. That (permanent) setup came in the 1890s. This early version has a belt guard like the earlier New Family (model 12) machines, and doesn't have things like tension release (automatic or manual!) or automatic bobbin winders. This machine introduced the world to the 15x1 needle though, which became the industry standard. That's what you still buy today at the sewing machine/fabric stores. This particular machine retailed for between $55 and $60, making it $1168.78-$1275.03 in 2007 dollars.
improved drivers cab/top part. changes include the removal of the middle black section because it now attaches directly to the base and making the side parts one plate closer to the cab to account for the different mounting solution

Bess of Hardwick tried to 'improve' the old hall but thought better of it and built an entirely new hall just a short distance away.....
Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire, is an architecturally significant Elizabethan country house in England, a leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. Built between 1590 and 1597 for the formidable Bess of Hardwick, it was designed by the architect Robert Smythson, an exponent of the Renaissance style of architecture. Hardwick Hall is one of the earliest examples of the English interpretation of this style, which came into fashion having slowly spread from Florence. Its arrival in Britain fortuitously coincided with the period when it was no longer necessary or legal to fortify a domestic dwelling. Ownership of the house was transferred to the National Trust in 1959. wikipedia

This is my improved version of the BB brush (combination of Buckle and Blanchard) Here I am using a cotton pad folded in two with a wooden skewer to keep the shape better. The metal bulldog clip is now replaced wih "Cool and Cozy" all plastic. The skewrs are thin, made of bamboo and easy to break with fingers. Cheap and effective. Disposable.
The glass dish is shallow so it is easy to dip the brush and suck up all the precious sensitizer. I am now using it to coat salted papers with silver nitrate.
After about three hours of dinking around the my HDR version on Avid, I think it's marginally better!
BTW - I cheated. I never change the color cast of an image. Using the color correction effects in Avid I started warm and ended cool (blue). It looks better, but the sun set a half hour before I began shooting.
Aregawi Abay and Alganesh Woldegebriel's house in Tonseka sub-village, Koraro, sits in the shadow of the Gheralta mountains. The couple have worked hard to improve the sanitary conditions in their household, installing a ventilated improved pit latrine, hand-washing facilities and a energy-saving, smokeless stove.
