The first state-level Distance Mentoring Model implementation team met at the Iowa Department of Education. The group works with regional teams to make policy and infrastructure changes to support implementation of the model across the state. The Distance Mentoring Model is aimed at service providers who work with infants and toddlers through age 3 who have been identified as having development delays or disabilities. Iowa’s current early intervention professional development is fragmented, with inconsistent delivery throughout the state. The new model is a step toward consistent, high-quality service delivery for all eligible infants, toddlers and their families in Iowa.
