MDC Alliance UK and Ireland SOUTHWEST DISTRICT is cruising at full throttle in implementing their branch restructuring programmes ahead of the much awaited elective National Congress. This weekend amounted to killing two birds with one stone as the motivated District crew led by District Organising Secretary, Mr Model Pamire had a successful tour of duty both at Southampton and Portsmouth branches. District executives present included the Acting District chairperson Mrs Spiwe Dube,Mrs B. Madzingira(District Secretary),Mr Chris Nyamukuvhengu (District Treasurer) and Reuben Waretsa (District Vice Organising. Secretary) Several guests from sister branches like Slough and Reading attended in a gesture of solidarity with fellow comrades.

Conspicuous by his presence was Mr Chris Boka, all the way from Scotland, who attended representing the newly appointed Provincial interim committee.Mr Boka had an opportunity to share some useful tips during the proceedings at Southampton.

The Portsmouth meeting was previledged to share from a brilliant presentation by the Manicaland Provincial Treasurer General , Mr Jaison Matewu who was guest of honour at the occassion

A very positive development worth mentioning, was the sizeable injection of young and new blood whilst retaining the old guard in key portions. This is expected to re-ernegise the performance of the branches in all departments as they say that "new brooms sweep cleaner and the old ones know all the corners. What a combinationaton to have!!.

As things stand, there is still a lot of work in progress for the district team. Next on the agenda is restructuring at Reading and Slough branches.

Implementation of Ana Dominguez Studio's graphic design throughout several supports (banners, wall labels, entrance vinyl, exhibition leaflet, public space, city transport, etc) for the exhibition “Panorama 21. Apunts per a un incendi dels ulls” (“Panorama 21: Notes for an Eye Fire”), MACBA Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, 22 October 2021–27 February 2022. Curated by Hiuwai Chu and Latitudes. Photo: Ana Dominguez Studio.

Ana Domínguez’s graphic design concept for the exhibition series Panorama, as well as its first edition, Notes for an Eye Fire, is an integral part of the projects’ communication, linking the physical exhibition with its online counterpart.

Domínguez worked closely with Lara Coromina for both commissions, along with Pau Geis and Ana Habash, all members of her studio’s team.

The Panorama identity is based on a customised version of the Du Nord Macba typeface and a stamp-like circular wordmark. Developed for the web and social media, the design expands the letters of “panorama” into a series of black-and-white switchbacks and arabesques that recall concrete poetry.

The graphic concept for Notes for an Eye Fire reflects the vitality and heterogeneity of the exhibition’s participants, and draws on some of the key refrains from Gabriel Ventura’s homonymous 2020 poetry collection — not least the notion of creative insurgency, the power of the word, and the thwarting of sight. Through a visual language of volcanic eruptions, billowing smoke screens, and motion lines, Domínguez and her team use illustration to break apart the title and fire off allusions to the exhibition.

Kavalcare Solar System for Jhpiego Mid-Wife Clinic Dec8, 2014

Every year, 12,000 women in Pakistan die of birth complications. The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Services Component, implemented by MCHIP/Jhpiego, aims at preventing maternal, newborn, and child deaths by ensuring skilled birth attendance (SBA) through a total market approach, empowered community, timely referral of obstetric and neonatal complications to an emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC) facility, and improved access to child care.

Lack of electricity in remote areas is a major issue that often leads to obstetric complications and newborn deaths. Refrigerated storage is vital for the effectiveness of life saving drugs and vaccines. Ice boxes are used in remot areas of this purpose but it is an ineffective method especially when easy availability of ice is a problem. To overcome these issues, Lodhie Foundation in association with Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program/JHPIEGO, extended its Kavalcare program and provided a Solar Powered System to a remote clinic located at village Haji Usman Jhakro near Makli, District Thatta. System provides sufficient power to operate a small refrigerator, a fan and 3 lamps 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It was designed, manufactured and installed by Shaan Technologies private Limited Karachi. After installation of Solar System in August 2014, this small remote clinic is serving a community of 10,000 plus persons who lives in village Haji Usman and surrounding areas. On an average 10 patients visits this clinic each day. Clinic also provides up to 15 birth attendance and new born care in a month.

The Tibetan Women’s Advanced Leadership Training organized by the Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) kick started with a opening ceremony held at the House of Peace and Dialogue, Upper TCV School and was attended by dignitaries from the exile Tibetan Community.

Statistics say the Central Tibetan Administration is comprised of a 46% female and 54% male workforce, but this does not demonstrate the true situation. There is a shocking discrepancy of a low 3% of women at top level positions, in stark contrast to the 97% of males at high level positions. The same picture also fits in many other frames of Tibetan exile Diaspora.

The Tibetan Women’s Advanced Leadership Training (June 7 to June 17), an undertaking of the Tibetan Women’s Association, seeks to not only address this issue, but to tackle it by enabling women’s representation in the higher realms of representation and ranks of governance. Thirty professional and high potential Tibetan women leaders from all over India participated in this 11-day training, which is the first of its kind. Additionally, this training accentuated the implementation of the Kashag’s eight point policy on women’s empowerment launched in October 2010. It also provided a niche platform and a creative forum for potential women leaders to identity and hone their leadership skills.

A training of trainers of a South Sudan’s soon-to-be unified army concluded today, 4 October, with a graduation ceremony at the Military Training Centre in Luri near Juba.

The event marks a significant step forward for the implementation of the country’s revitalized peace agreement, signed in September last year.

Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar, Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, described the project of training the nation’s unified forces as one with “tremendous implications for national integrity and security”. He called the graduating instructors “pioneers” with a “huge responsibility” to carry after having received just ten days of training.

“Whatever you do, however you act, is going to affect the soldiers who you train, so I implore you to be conscious of your actions, because you set the trend of the forces of South Sudan,” the Force Commander said.

Lieutenant General Tinaikar also stressed the importance of looking forward rather than backward.

“You have to forget your past, from where you come and your past affiliations, to work together for your young nation, for the state of South Sudan,” he said, reiterating his faith in the diligence and capacity of the instructors to train the unified forces properly.

A lack of qualified trainers has been slowing down the capacity building of units of the united armed forces in 35 cantonment sites across the country, making the readiness of instructors such a vital sign of progress.

To enable the establishment of a Transitional Government of National Unity on 12 November, the few hundred graduates will need to capacitate some 83,000 soldiers, the troops being merged from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition.

Começou a ser edificado em

ampliada a torre sineira.

à esposa e aproveitou o pretexto para construir uma fortificação militar nas

proximidades, dado que se tratava de um local estratégico para a

segurança do reino.

Pires.

From 15th to 18th of July 2013, a workshop was held in Accra, Ghana to set EAF (ecosystem approach to fisheries) implementation baselines for 13 countries in the CECAF-south area.

Festus G. Mogae, Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC), met with the Group of 10 (former detainees), members of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-In-Opposition (SPLM/A-IO), and members of the Government of the Republic of South Sudan (GRSS) on 22 December 2015. During his welcoming remarks, Mr. Mogae said the return of SPLM/A-IO indicates their commitment to restoring peace and implementing the Agreement in South Sudan. “Your return is not the end of the road, but the start of another important journey,” he stressed.

He also mentioned his appreciation of the Government for enabling the first group of the SPLM/A (IO) to return, and urged both parties to plan for the expeditious return of the second and third groups, in accordance with the proposed plan. In remarks aimed at the greater South Sudanese population, he said “in this season of hope, forgiveness and renewal … this Christmas, 2015, is the last celebrated in a context of conflict.”

The main purposes of the meeting were: a) to ensure the timely establishment of the main pre-transitional institutions, b) to hear from the leadership of the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM) about their activities, challenges and how best to support their efforts in future, c) to hear from the Parties on the status, to date, of the cantonment of forces and d) to move forward with the other processes necessary to establish the Transitional Government of National Unity, as required by the Compromise Peace Agreement.

Plaque on the front of F.L. Sankot Case Implement, 807 13th Street, Belle Plaine, Iowa. The Sankot Motor Company, also known as the Sankot Garage, is a historic building located on the Lincoln Highway. The historical significance of this building is its association with the increase in all-season travel and the development of businesses like this one to serve them along the Lincoln Highway, the United States's first transcontinental route. It is a brick front building with side walls of clay tile that was constructed on a concrete foundation. The west half of the building was added in 1927. It was operated by O.B. Charles and Sid Sankot until 1937. They also sold Chryslers. Gasoline was sold from 1920 to 1944. F.L. Sankot bought the business in 1937. In addition to vehicle repair, he sold Case and Oliver tractors and implements. William and Jerry Sankot purchased the business in 1985, and limited it to passenger, commercial and agricultural vehicle repairs. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. It was included as a contributing property in the Belle Plaine Main Street Historic District in 2013.
