Another view of the new implant.

Here you can observe my lovely new piece of hardware, previously seen in the dental radiograph. The screw head covers the actual implant while it heals; later the screw head will be replaced by a crown.

The marginal adaptation of the provisional crown is checked against the ceramic abutment

The information of the bite registration scan and the ceramic abutment scan is used by the CEREC software to propose a proper provisional crown. Once approved the information is sent to the milling chamber

Once the tissues are reflected, you can appreciated the increase in thickness of the ridge and how well the block grafts have integrated.

The ceramic abutment is powdered with contrast powder and prepared for the scan

The prepared ceramic abutment is placed on the implant analog in the cast

After the implant is secured, a transfer coping is connected to the implant and an impression is taken

The stone cast of the patient after the graft has matured for 4 months.

The dental implant is inserted into the osteotomy

A surgical template is made, off a diagnostic wax-up, indicating where the future teeth should be.

Both blocks are fixated to the thin maxillary ridge.

This is the provisional crown, fresh out of the milling chamber

The graft blocks are outlined and the fixation screws are inserted.

The donor site is filled with microfibrillar collagen (Avetene) and Hydorxylapatite.

This is the initial condition from the side-view. This looks fairly promising for dental implants.

However, when viewed from the top, we can clearly see how thin the ridge is. Maybe even too thin to place implants. A CT scan is necessary to make an exact determination in that matter.

The implants can now be placed in their proper position.

The chin is chosen as a donor site for the onlay graft.

This is the site three days after the surgery. The tissues are in excellent condition and the GoreTex sutures are not visible
