Healing Hands Foundation, Pune, and Vanchit Vikas organisation, Pune jointly organised free Covishield vaccination drive for the marginalised.
The drive was organised at Vanchit Vikas head office, Narayan Peth, Pune on 6 June 2021.
The camp was successfully completed under the observation of expert doctors and nursing staff. In this drive, 28 beneficiaries were able to avail the benefit of vaccination.

At the #WHA78 side event on measles and rubella elimination through system strengthening, I highlighted the ongoing global challenge measles poses.
Despite an effective vaccine, tens of thousands of deaths occur annually, mainly among unvaccinated children.
The Americas regained measles elimination status in 2024 but have seen a rise in cases this year in Mexico, the United States and Canada stressing the urgent need for global elimination.
Measles exposes gaps in immunization systems and inequities in access, especially affecting “zero-dose” children in conflict zones and remote areas.
PAHO is strengthening Expanded Programs of Immunization using tools like electronic records and targeted campaigns. While progress is being made, faster action is needed.
Immunization is key to primary health care and resilient health systems. System strengthening must focus on sustainable financing, data-driven decisions, workforce support, and community engagement.

The first round (Round 0) of this immunization campaign targets children aged 0-59 months, an estimated 582,159 children in the Siguiri health district, as well as in the 4 neighboring districts of Siguiri, including 3 in the Kankan region (Mandiana, Kouroussa, Kankan) and 1 district in the Faranah region (Dinguiraye).
In Siguiri, Dr. Mamadou Péthé Diallo, Minister of Health, and UNICEF symbolically vaccinated a few children in front of communities and the media, officially launching the national immunization campaigns and urging parents to have their children immunized against polio, while reminding them that the vaccine is free, safe and effective.
UNICEF in Guinea participates in the implementation of immunization campaigns, supports routine immunization activities and health services, provides vaccines and logistical support to ensure that vaccines reach all children, even in the most remote areas, and supports awareness raising and community mobilization.
